Visit of Delegation of Feroze 1888, Karachi to NTU 

Faisalabad, March 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of top management of Feroze 1888, Karachi, visited NTU on 24-03-2022 to discuss different R and D projects and collaboration opportunities. During their visit, they also visited the research infrastructure of NTU. Both agreed to carry out different projects related to alternative natural fibers, yarn dyeing and productivity enhancement. They also agreed to become part of knowTex.

Industrial trip of weaving students to Gohar Textiles 

Faisalabad, March 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Society of Textile Weavers arranged an industrial tour to Gohar textiles for the second-year students of BS Textile Engineering on March 28-2022. Gohar textiles is one of the leading fabric manufacturing industries of Pakistan. The students along with Dr. Muhammad Umair visited different departments including Sizing, Warping, Weaving of Gohar textiles which will help students in understanding weaving processes. Convener of the Society of Textile Weavers, Mr. Hassan Iftekhar Ahmed, is thankful to General Manager Gohar Textiles, Mr. Naseer Khan, for his cooperation in this regard.

UVAS Dairy-Beef Project Team organised Community of Practice Workshop 

Lahore, March 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Dairy-Beef Project Team of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with University of Melbourne (UM) organised daylong Community of Practice workshop at Avari Hotel Lahore on Wednesday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the inaugural session of the workshop while Project Manager Dairy-Beef Project Team Dr Humera Iqbal, Dr Hassan Mahmood Warraich, Dr David McGill, Kaykine Height and extension managers, heads/CEO’s from research/academia, government, NGO’s from public and private sector were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad put focus to the organizations to sustain the whole family extension approach activities even Dairy-Beef project ends. Dr Amjad Saqib from Akhuwat Foundation shared that Dairy-Beef project support sharing extension research lessons are the instrumental to improve farm production in Kasur district whereas he is also keen to disseminate project result into other communities and other districts.

Later, Dr David McGill from Australia spoke about the objectives of the workshop and brief introduction of the project the team from UVAS and UM in his online video message. Dr Humera Iqbal briefed about the project update (focus-objectives, gender mainstream and future plan) while Dr Hassan Mahmood Warraich spoke about the Impacts of the Whole family extension approach (WFEA) training intervention on the capacity building of farm advisors within the current livestock advisory services system of Pakistan.

The objectives of the workshop were to demonstrate the impact of the ‘Whole family extension approach’ (WFEA) through sharing the outcome of already collected data (farm advisors/case studies), exploring the potential opportunities with various collaborating organizations to sustain the WFEA key activities including farm advisor training workshops and community of practice in future and data collection regarding the impacts of WFEA within various organizations.

IIUI and Islamic University in Uganda Join Hands for Bilateral Cooperation 

Islamabad, March 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) have vowed to boost bilateral cooperation in the fields of research, community benefit, exchange of knowledge, scholarships, training and arrangement of conferences by inking a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU was signed here at the new campus of the university by Rector IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and Rector IUIU Prof. Dr. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda. The ceremony was also joined by Prof. Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President Administration and Finance, Vice President Research and Enterprise Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed and representative from Comstech Mr. Haris.

As per the MoU, both the universities have agreed for the joint venture of mutual interests, training programs and exchange of experiences. It was also agreed that collaboration and exchange of research materials related to joint academic and research projects will be initiated through a well-devised road-map.

Both the counterparts agreed to initiate joint ventures for promotion of education. They also agreed that steps for holding conferences, seminars, lectures and workshops in the fields of mutual interest will be taken as soon as possible. On the occasion, the IIUI Rector apprised of the university’s vision, its academic activities and details of the faculties. He said IIUI is keen to be relevant to the needs of society and service of humanity through knowledge and education is its top priority.

The Rector Islamic University in Uganda hailed that IIUI is managing a huge separate campus for more than 15 thousand students. He also appreciated that a large number of faculties and departments have been providing quality education to the national and foreign students. He called upon Muslim youth to follow the pathway defined by Islam and advised them to remain dedicated towards dissemination of peace and promotion of knowledge.

The IUIU Rector also visited the Centre for Advanced Electronics and Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE) at IIUI and appreciated the facilities being managed by the researchers and experts. He was briefed about the facilities at the center by Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed. He appreciated the collaboration and funding of Islamic Development bank for this state of the art facility.
