Notice: Registration for Beyond Seven Academic Years’ Students of Undergraduate Programme

Karachi, March 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): In pursuance of the decision taken in the 40th meeting of Governing Body of Pakistan Engineering Council held on 10-02-2021 and subsequent PEC letter No.PEC/EAD/40-GB/004/2021 Dated 15-07-2021, those students who had not yet completed their degree requirements in spite of lapse of seven academic years are allowed to complete their degree requirement till 31-12-2023. Further, they are allowed provisional registration/re-admission, as under:

i) Re-admission may be offered to all such students in their respective programmes (For all Engineering).

Rs. 19800/= one time Re-admission fee to be charged

In addition, Rs. 6700/- to be charged per course.

ii) During any semester, the students will be offered ONLY such courses (or equivalent courses) which are being offered in that particular semester.

iii) All students are advised to report in Academic Section, Registrar Office w.e.f. 21-03-2022 to 25-03-2022. Online Registration will be open with backlog/ Phase-II registration.

iv) The students will be required to attend all classes, maintain attendance of minimum 75%, do the sessional works, appear in mid-term and final exams. In case of non-compliance, they will not be allowed to appear in the semester examination.

Call for new startups incubation at BIC-UoH

Haripur, March 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): BIC-UOH intends to fill the vacant slots available in BIC-Hall, for the induction of new startups. This call is open for the faculty, students, and alumni of the University as per approved policy (available at the BIC section of university website).

Honourable Ambassador of Japan visited UET, Lahore in connection with a Book donation ceremony

Lahore, March 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Honourable Ambassador of Japan Mr. Wada Mitsuhiro, and the respectable spouse of the Honourable Ambassador. Mrs. Naoko Wada visited UET, Lahore in connection with a Book donation ceremony. The delegation also consisted of Mr. Hiraki Tadayoshi, First Secretary, economic section, Mr. Katsuragwa Hirotada second secretary, political section, and Mr. Rafay Haleem, cultural advisor, public affairs section, Embassy of Japan. The goal of the Book donation project is to provide readers around the world with an accurate picture of Japan through the donation of outstanding books.

The Honourable Ambassador presented 98 books to the worthy Vice Chancellor, UET which have been placed in a special corner of the main Library. Additionally, the Ambassador took oath from MAAP Lahore Chapter executive committee. The Monbukagakusho-MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP) is an organization of the scholars who studied in Japanese institutions and who were awarded scholarships by the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Japan: Monbukagakusho).

The objectives of this organization were to develop contacts and close networking with the Monbukagakusho scholars not only in Pakistan, but also in other countries and regions, with the view of exchanging scholarly ideas, information and collaborations to benefit mutually and society at large. Dr Tauseef Aized took oath of Lahore Chapter Chair, Dr. Khalid Farooq Chaudhry as Vice-Chair and Dr. Muhammad Irfan as regional secretary coordination.

The event was organized in Civil Engineering Department. The Ambassador and UET agreed to collaborate further on different venues in future for mutual benefits. Followed by the ceremony, lunch was served and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held in the main library.

Inter-Board Committee of Chairpersons Meeting

Gilgit, March 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): The worthy Vice Chancellor KIU Engr. Prof. Dr. Ataullah Shah specially attended the high-level meeting of the Inter-Board Committee of Chairpersons. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Chancellor KIU and Chairpersons of more than 30 boards across the country. The worthy Vice Chancellor Karakoram International University briefed the members in detail about the challenges facing by the Karakoram Board.

Important issues were discussed in the high-level meeting of the Inter-Board Committee of Chairman, including introduction of Matriculation in Science for private students, uniform grading policy throughout the country working to harmonize matriculation and intermediate education with higher education and to create better coordination between the boards and bring them in line with the requirements of modern times.

North China University of Sciences and Technology and KIU dual degree program for Mining Engineering students KIU

Gilgit, March 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): Today a Meeting was held at Senate Hall between KIU and North China University of Sciences and Technology (NCUST) regarding dual Degree in BS Mining Engineering. The students will complete three years education in KIU and final one year in NCUST, the Chinese Govt. will bear all the expenses (tuition fee, accommodation etc.) and the degree will be recognized by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and Chinese Education Council as well.
