Peshawar, The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar (SBBWUP) has introduced updated Medical Attendance Rules for its regular employees, aligning with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities Act-2012. The revised rules, which took effect immediately, aim to enhance medical benefits and streamline processes for the university staff.

According to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University – Peshawar, the rules are designed to cover all regular employees except those on contract, temporary, or part-time employment. These comprehensive guidelines specify eligibility and procedures for medical treatment, emphasizing support for employees facing life-threatening conditions, where the Vice-Chancellor may offer special considerations.

The rules define “Authorized Medical Attendant” roles, eligibility of family members, and detailed procedures for medical emergencies and routine healthcare needs. They highlight a commitment to using government and approved private facilities to ensure employees receive quality care. Notably, the rules include provisions for treating serious ailments at designated hospitals such as Rehman Medical Institute and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, with specific stipulations on reimbursement rates aligned with government standards.

Key aspects of the updated rules include the allowance for emergency care outside of local facilities if necessary, detailed reimbursement processes for various medical needs, and strict guidelines to prevent the misuse of medical benefits. The university has established clear parameters for treatments eligible for reimbursement, including major surgeries and routine care, while also addressing the use of the Sehat Sahulat Card Scheme.
