Inaugural Ceremony of SICOLLAPT-2022

Wah Cantt, March 16, 2022 (PPI-OT): Department of English, UW inaugurated 2nd International Conference on Linguistics, Literary and Pedagogical Turns on 14 March, 2022. The Conference themes included Linguistics Turns, Literary Trends and Pedagogical Implications of ELT in the wake of COVID-19. Prof. Dr. Anwar-Ul Hassan Gilani, Vice Chancellor, University of Haripur, graced the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak, Vice Chancellor, University of Swabi was the Guest of Honour/Keynote Speaker. Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW, and Patron-in-Chief, SICOLLAPT welcomed the worthy guests.

 

In his welcome note, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Social Sciences and especially the Department of English for organizing research-oriented activities regularly. The worthy guests, in their speeches, emphasized on teachers and researchers to play a proactive role in society. Dr. Rasib Mahmood, Chairperson, Department of English and Conference Chair, accentuated VC’s mission of making UW a research-intensive institution.

 

Eminent foreign professors and researchers including Dr. Fabbio Luppi, Universiti Roma Tre, Italy; Dr. Hanita Hassan, Associate Professor, Language Academy, Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia; Dr. Bootheina Majoul, Associate Professor, English Literature and Studies, University of Carthage, Tunisia; Dr. Ryan Kerr, University of Florida, USA and Ms. Shivalika Agarwal, PhD Scholar, India, joined the opening session in virtual mode, and offered insightful discussions. At the end of the inaugural session, the participants had a group photo with the VC, UW and other guests.

Ground Breaking Ceremony held for the construction of Jama-e-Masjid Sir Syed

Karachi, March 16, 2022 (PPI-OT): Ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Jama-e-Masjid Sir Syed was held at the new campus of Sir Syed University, situated at 200 acres land in Education City. It was attended by the members of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association and management team.

 

Speaking on the auspicious occasion, Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar said that the AMUOBA’s goal is to develop, construct and maintain a permanent masjid for Muslim community in the new campus. It is extremely important to build a masjid that brings Muslims together and promotes brotherhood among the Muslim community. Mosques play important role in Islamic Society and Islamic Doctrines are incomplete without mosques. It is beyond doubts that those who take part in construction of the mosques are the Chosen Men of God.

 

General Secretary AMUOBA, Muhammad Arshad Khan pointed out that Jama e Masjid Sir Syed will be constructed on 48484 sq. feet and around 2000 worshipers will be able to offer namaz in the Jama e Masjid Sir Syed. The Design of the mosque is of the same style as that of Aligarh Muslim University Mosque and it will be given a magnificent look matching international standards. The project is expected to take about a year and a half to complete and the grand mosque contains 3 domes and 2 minarets with a beautifully designed large prayer hall.

Conference on Knowledge based Textiles-2022 at National Textile University, Faisalabad

Faisalabad, March 16, 2022 (PPI-OT): First annual, knowledge-based textile conference held at National Textile University under the HEC funded project KnowTex on 01 March 2022. Addressing the participants of the conference, Professor Dr. Tanveer Hussain, Rector NTU said, “the textile industry is playing an important role in the socio-economic development of people of the subcontinent for centuries.”

 

On this occasion, the Mr. Rahim Nasir (Chairman APTMA), Mian Muhammad Latif (Chairman Chenab Group), Sheikh Shafiq Jhokwala (Chairman PRGMEA), Mr. Mujeeb Ullah Khan (CEO, iTextile), Syed Hasnain Abbas (GM R and I Interloop Ltd), Engineer Ahmed Hassan (Chairman CPEC and R and D Committee FCCI), Mr. Wahid Khalid Ramay (Chairman CLOA), Engineer Bilal Jamil (Chairman Standards Committee SME FCCI), Sheikh Jawad Shafiq (President Faisalabad Dyes and Chemical Traders Association), Miss Arifa Anees (Country Head Textile Training Saylayni Trust) and other participants highlighted the relation between industry and academia for Pakistan’s textile industry. Textile Processing Department Claimed victory in Interdepartmental Cricket Championship 2022

Faisalabad, March 16, 2022 (PPI-OT): The final match of the interdepartmental cricket championship was played between the Knitting and Textile Processing Departments in the cricket ground of NTU. Textile Processing Department won the championship-2022. Sports Department of National Textile University hereby congratulates the cricket team, Dr. Yasir Nawab (Dean SET), Dr. Munir Ashraf (Chairman DTE), and Dr. Sharjeel Abid (Assistant Professor, Sports Coordinator) on winning the title.

Two days training workshop Concluded at University of Poonch, Rawalakot AJK

Gilgit, March 16, 2022 (PPI-OT): A two-day workshop under U.S.-Pakistan University Partnerships Grants Program 2020-22 has concluded at the University of Poonch, Rawalakot AJK. This program is administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and funded by U.S. government. The workshop module designed in the areas of educational development and leadership, Sustainable Environmental Leadership and Sustainable Entrapreneural ecosystem to support activities that faculty and institutions contribute towards national development, strengthen and joint research reforms, to enhance collaboration between Pakistani universities.

 

The focal persons of the workshop at UoP Dr. Majid Tahir and Dr. Usman Hameed thanked the KIU leadership and team for providing this learning opportunity. Earlier, addressing the inaugural session, Engr. Prof. Dr. Ataullah Shah, Vice Chancellor (Karakoram International University) talked about faculty development and effective leadership in academia and professional life. He also acknowledged the generous support of the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan, which was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States with the aim of providing education.

 

During the workshop Dr. Tasawar Baig, project lead moderated the two days workshop. And, Mr. Shahram Niazi, who was representing the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan and US Embassy extended high appreciation for quality work and establishing of such academic collaboration and joint venture shall yield positive development for the society through knowledge sharing. He also highlighted other scholarships and academic program supports at USEFP.

 

Engr. Prof Dr. Attaullah Shah Vice Chancellor KIU, Prof. Dr. Patricia Pashby (University of Oregon), Dr. Zaigham Ali, Dept of Business Management and Dr. Muhammad Zafar Khan, HoD Forestry and Wildlife were the facilitators of the workshop. Around 20 faculty of the University of Poonch, Rawalakot were the beneficiary of this training workshop on capacity building, knowledge and experience sharing.

 

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rauf Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Poonch, Rawalakot thanked VC KIU for facilitating and helping to organise this professional faculty development workshop in the city and emphasized to strengthen such academic and research partnership between the universities.

 

Vice Chancellor KIU, Engr. Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah said that it is necessary to organize such a workshop to enhance the teaching skills and capacity building of faculty to play a significant role in student development. He added that through these academic programs, universities develop joint collaborations for quality academic program and research activities.
