Vertex Aerospace announces it will be known as The Vertex Company

MADISON, Miss., March 04, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vertex Aerospace today announces that going forward, it will be known as “The Vertex Company”. The announcement follows a successful acquisition of the new Vertex Technology & Training Solutions division from Raytheon Intelligence & Space. The acquisition closed on December 6, 2021.

The Vertex Company will operate two divisions consisting of Aerospace & Defense Services and Technology & Training Solutions. The Vertex ADS division will include the legacy Vertex Aerospace business. The Vertex TTS division will include all businesses acquired from Raytheon.

Kiran Foundation and Ziauddin University-Karachi inked Memorandum of understanding

Karachi, March 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The memorandum was signed by Sabina Khatri Founder and Chairperson Kiran Foundation and Dr. Nida Hussain, Pro-Chancellor, Ziauddin University, Karachi. Whereas the two institutions joined hands to lift up the suppressed children of Lyari by providing them mainstream education. Ziauddin University will offer subsidized education to the nominated children from Kiran Foundation.

Ziauddin University is pursuing its goal of community development and collaboration with the Kiran foundation is an example of its commitment to community enhancement. The MoU signing ceremony was held on Tuesday, March’1’ 2022.

PHD open defense seminar held in the Institute of Computer Science 

Khairpur, March 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ph. D Open Defense Seminar was held in the Institute of Computer Science, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor. Ph. D Research Scholar Mr. Abdur Razzaque defended his research on the topic “Scalability Approaches for Internet of Things (IOT) Bases Smart Campus System to Enhance Operating Effectiveness” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Mahar.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that the research work of the scholar will enhance the smart campus system based on Internet of Things. He said this emerging technology requires new system, architectures and infrastructure to meet smart application necessities. Dr. Ibupoto said we are committed to provide the basic facilities to the research scholars so they could embark their research in convenient and conducive environment.

Research Scholar Mr. Abdur Razzaque said that his research work will be beneficial for accessing present and future smart campus applications and measuring their capacity. He said a smart campus project has been introduced by the HEC for SALU to improve teaching and learning activities. Prof. Dr. Qasid Hussain Mallah, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences said this research work of the scholar will be a value-added work in the field of computer science.

Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Director Institute of Computer Science briefed the participants about the academic and research development of the Institute of Computer Science. He appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto who personally presides over the Open Defense despite his hectic engagements.

External Examiners Dr. Malik Muhammad Saad Missen, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, Dr. Saleem ullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Khuwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan, Research Supervisor Dr. Javed Ahmed Mahar also spoke on this occasion. The COAS visited University of Turbat

Turbat, March 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the University of Turbat (UoT) on 1st March 2022 and had a detailed interactive session with a large number of representatives from all segments of society, including local leaders/notables, tribal elders, students, faculty, lawyers and women. VC UoT, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, and officers from Armed Forces and Civil Administration accorded him a warm welcome on arrival at University.

Speaking on the occasion, COAS General Qamar Bajwa said that Balochistan youth is very talented and must capitalize on the available opportunities being created for their education and skill development. He also encouraged the youth to join local law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and contribute towards the security and stability of the area.

“Peace and prosperity of Balochistan is the top priority and Pakistan Army will do all to provide a peaceful environment for population-centric socio-economic projects in Balochistan,” the COAS reiterated. Prize Distribution Ceremony of Sports Week 2022 held at University of Turbat

Turbat, March 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Prize Distribution Ceremony of Sports Week 2022 was held at the multipurpose hall of the University on 28th February 2022. The chief guest of the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad said that besides promoting education and research activities, a comprehensive plan is underway to enhance sports activities in the university as well. The Directorate of Sports will further be strengthened and students will be provided with better sports facilities, and the football ground will be grassified before the start of the next sports gala in September this year.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the way the students, faculty, and staff participated in Sports Week as a unit, determined the brighter future of the University. He expressed his gratitude towards the organizing committee members for arranging such lively sports activities quite in a professional manner that are requisite to refresh the body, polish skills, and enliven minds. He said that sports make us learn to accept both victories and defeat with smiles and elegance.

Thanking for the support from VC, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Sectional Heads, Faculty Members and Students in organizing Sports Week successfully, the Sports Director, Mazhar Gichki said that a number of games were held during the last 7 days in which students, faculty members, and admin staff participated with zeal and enthusiasm.

Orientation session BSPH-batch 2022-2026 

Rawalpindi, March 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):NUMS Department of Public Health (NDPH) arranged orientation session for Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program to welcome third batch of students, on February 21st, 2022. This year, an overwhelming response was observed for the program, which is evidence of our faculty hard work, commitment and dedication.

With this program, we aim to create a health workforce, capable to generate health awareness and health promotion among the community by adopting an innovative and community- based learning approach.

The session was organized to provide a brief introduction of the University and the Department of Public Health. The session was attended by the students, external faculty members of concerned courses and the faculty members of Department of Public Health including Head of Department Professor Dr Uzma Hassan, Associate Professor Dr Tamkeen Jaffry, Assistant Professor Dr Hina Shan, Senior Lecturer Dr Rehma Gilani and Assistant Manager Ms Rubab Zulfiqar.

Dr Hina Shan moderated the session by introducing the students with the mission of NUMS followed by a welcome note from Professor Dr. Uzma Hassan. She congratulated the students on their selection, highlighted the tremendous progress NUMS has made during the past five years and reiterated NUMS pledge to follows the spirit of scientific inquiry with the best of education and skill base training.

She echoed the important role public health plays in the development of a strong and resilient health system and underscored the role of faculty in imparting quality education and wished them, a promising career in public health research and development.

The faculty gave their brief introduction. Dr. Tamkeen Jaffry, briefed the students regarding academic and assessment policy of the program. Dr Rehma Gilani gave an outline of prospective research activities at the department. Mr Wajid, NUMS librarian, gave a presentation related to rules of using library and issue of books.

The students introduced themselves to the faculty members and to each other, briefly highlighting their interests in public health and reasons of joining NUMS. Students were provided the opportunity to ask questions from the HoD and faculty related to program and career perspective

A training session on the Learning Management System at Moodle was conducted by Ms. Aqsa Arshad, Directorate of Digital Technologies. The Chair concluded the session with a note of thanks to the students, faculty members and the concerned staff. The students were provided refreshments followed by a tour of academic block by the senior batch BSPH focal persons. The academic session has been formally commenced from February 21st, 2022.
