Islamabad, August 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):In a Gallup and Gilani Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 1985, a representative sample of adult men and women from across Pakistan was asked the following question “In your opinion, how effective has the United Nations been in keeping peace?” In response to this question, 8% said highly effective, 33% said somewhat effective, 40% said not effective at all, and 19% didn’t know or gave no response.
Comparative Picture: This question was asked again in 2022 to allow a comparison to be made across the years. In response to this question in 2022, 14% said highly effective, 24% said somewhat effective, 29% said not effective at all, and 33% didn’t know or gave no response.
Trend Analysis: Support for United Nations as a peace-keeping organization increased by 6% from 8% in 1985 to 14% in 2022. However, respondents who believed United Nations to be somewhat effective decreased from 33% in 1985 to 24% in 2022.
