Upcoming Workshop on MOSS (For Faculty Only)

Islamabad, August 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):MOSS (Measure of Software Similarity) is an automatic system for determining the similarity of programs. The main application of MOSS is detection of plagiarism in programming classes. The algorithm behind MOSS is a significant improvement over other cheating detection algorithm.

In response to a query, the Moss server produces HTML pages listing pairs of programs with similar code. MOSS also highlights individual passages in programs that appear the same, making it easy to quickly compare the files.

Keeping in view its significance, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) is organizing “Two Hours Hands-On Session on MOSS” on Monday, 15th August, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Instructions Lab-III, M-Block, and CUST. MUET, Pakistan Secures 1st Position in International Unity 3D Competition

Jamshoro, August 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Faculty of Telecommunications at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria organized the CENTRAL Workshop including Training and Competition on Unity 3D for Interactive Content development as part of the CENTRAL Project Capacity Building and Exchange towards attaining Technological Research and modernizing Academic Learning in June 2022.

Besides all partner universities of EU Capacity Building in Higher Education Project CENTRAL, various faculty members, researchers, and students across the globe participated in the workshop and competition.

From 6th -9th June 2022, the Technical University of Sofia also Organized IEEE International Black Sea Conference on Communications and Networking at Sofia Technology Park in which many researchers across the globe participated and presented their research work.

On 13th June 2022, a meeting of partner Universities of the CENTRAL Project took place which provided a platform for different sectors to look for new initiatives and future course of action for defining project proposals for the European Commission funded project.

CENTRAL is aimed at enabling employability, internationalization, and interdisciplinary engagement of students and graduates, as well as research staff. From 14th to 17th June 2022. Training and Competition on Unity 3D was organized.

The workshop created an atmosphere for socialization among participants and on the popular happenings in the Digital World specially the importance of Unity 3D was the focus of attention the delegates from the USA Spain, Pakistan.

Thailand Denmark, Bulgaria, and India were also present. From Pakistan, two Universities namely Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro and Sir Syed University of Science and Technology Karachi were part of this training and competition. Winners receiving their award

Engr Muhammad Zakir Shaikh from Mehran University Pakistan secured 1st Position in this International Unity 3D Competition the second and third positions were secured by researchers from India, besides great networking sessions.

Various visits were also arranged for the participants including visits to High Tech Laboratories, departments, and visit to Sofia Tech Park. The Overall Objective of this event was to open discussions on innovation and its commercialization through a strong partnership between industries and academia as well as on modern practices and methodologies in crossmulti-interdisciplinary areas such as Unity 3D. Social science, technology. Business Canvas, and so on.

At the end of the event, certificates were distributed among all the participants. Furthermore, Prof Vladimir Poulkoy and Associate Professor Agata Manolova of TUS thanked all the participants for being part of this event.

VIS Directorate Signed Memorandum of Understandings with Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam

Islamabad, August 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):On special invitation of VIS Directorate-CUST, respected senior citizen known historian Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmad, President, Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam (AFI) visited CUST on Wednesday August 3, 2022 and meet Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed. Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam (AFI) is one of the oldest and remarkable organization in the region which run several projects in the field of community welfare and education.

It is worth mentation here that AFI is not only recognize at national level but also at international level in the field of social and community welfare. He discussed various ways of coordination between CUST and AFI and appreciate VIS-CUST model in the field of community work and offer AFI cooperation to VIS-CUST.

Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed take keen interest in different projects of AFI and both sides agreed to continue cooperation in different departments and Directorates of CUST other than VIS. President AFI, Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmad invite formally Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Ahmed to visit Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam complex. Finally, MoU was signed between VIS-CUST and AFI. Habib University Appoints New Academic Leaders

Karachi, August 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):In recognition of their outstanding contributions to scholarly activities, teaching, and commitment to the strategic mission and vision of Habib University, following faculty members have been appointed to leadership roles. Dr. Humaira Qureshi, Program Director Integrated Sciences and Mathematics (iSciM), will now have the additional responsibilities as the Assistant Dean of Dhanani School of Science and Engineering.

She will be the first female Assistant Dean of Dhanani School of Science and Engineering. Dr. Qureshi talks about her vision for this new role, “I hope to enhance access to more women to take up science and engineering. I find myself very fortunate to be surrounded by amazing co-workers who encourage each other to perform better and I hope to strengthen this culture so we can ensure that our students turn out to be sincere, competent, and socially responsible individuals.”

Having a key academic leadership role, she is keen to ensure excellent learning outcomes for the students through robust academic planning and innovation. Dr. Ahmad Usman appointed as Program Director for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program. He will play a critical role for the innovation in engineering and science education programs and ensure that the Habib University continues to contribute towards having a profound impact on society.

Dr. Usman says, “My vision is to establish Habib University’s undergraduate Electrical and Computer Engineering program as a national asset, which immerses top talent in a contextual liberal arts learning environment, allows them to explore their passion for engineering, and develop them into socially and globally responsible leaders.”

Mr. Mohammad Moeini-Feizabadi has been appointed as Director Academics for the Graduate School Curation Program (GSCP). Mr. Moeini-Feizabadi is determined to promote the culture of inquiry on campus and among students, in close collaboration with our very competent and committed faculty body.

He further says, “As an academic, who has taught and researched in three different countries; I deeply value teamwork, diversity and endless conversation in search of truth. My quest will continue for deep philosophical foundations and commitment to solid scientific methodology. I look forward to making difference through this leadership position.”

Dr. Aamir Hasan, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, while announcing these new appointments, thanked Dr. Basit Memon for his contributions as the Assistant Dean of Dhanani School of Science and Engineering as well as for leading the ECE program.

He went on to congratulate the new leaders, “I have worked with these wonderful colleagues and they have all my respect and admiration and I urge all offices at Habib to extend their support and well wishes to these leaders.”
