Kuwait Red Crescent Distributes Relief Items to flood victims in Juhi

Karachi, September 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh, with the support of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, distributed a package of relief items to 160 internally displaced flood-affected families of UC Kamal Khan, taluka Juhi, District Dadu, on September 5, 2022. The Standard Non-Food Item (NFI) Kit package for a single-family included a tent, hygiene kit, kitchen set, seven blankets, two tarpaulin sheets, four mosquito nets, and two jerry cans.

Due to the inundation of the Indus River, many parts of Dadu district were submerged, making Juhi one of the most flood-affected areas of Sindh province. Pakistan Red Crescent and Kuwait Red Crescent are the first humanitarian organizations to distribute relief items to flood-afflicted families in Juhi. The flood victims appreciated the efforts of the Red Crescent and expressed hope that this will continue in their area.

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society delegation also visited the water purification plant installed by Pakistan Red Crescent Society at Kamal Khan Bridge near Chhandan Canal in Juhi, where flood victims are getting clean drinking water. The five-member delegation of Kuwait Red Crescent was led by the Director of Disaster Management and Emergency Unit Yusuf Al-Meraj. The Pakistan Red Crescent team included Deputy Director Media and Communication Department Islamabad Sher Zaman, Manager-Operations Sindh Muhammad Sajjad and Coordinator Emergency Response Force Hassan Ali Zuberi.

Pakistan Red Crescent distributes relief items to Sindh flood victims with Turkish, Kuwait, and Qatar Red Crescent

Karachi, September 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent, Kuwait Red Crescent and Qatar Red Crescent, distributed relief items to the flood victims in the Dadu, Sujawal and Mirpurkhas districts of Sindh province.

According to a press release issued on September 06, 2022, Pakistan Red Crescent, jointly with the Turkish Red Crescent, distributed Non-Food Items (NFIs) and food items/rations to flood-affected families in Sujawal. Furthermore, PRCS, in collaboration with the Qatar Red Crescent, distributed relief items, including tents, Hygiene Kits, and blankets in Mirpurkhas.

Likewise, the Pakistan Red Crescent, with the support of the Kuwait Red Crescent, distributed a package of Standard Non-Food Items Kit, including a tent, hygiene kit, kitchen set, seven blankets, two tarpaulin sheets, four mosquito nets, and two jerry cans to each internally displaced flood-affected family in Dadu. More relief items and aid supplies will be distributed gradually over time. The flood victims applauded the Pakistan Red Crescent and its movement partners’ efforts and expressed hope that this will continue in their area.

Turkey and Qatar Red Crescent delegation also visited the free medical camp set up by Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh for the flood victims in Sajawal, where more than 700 patients, including men, women and children, were treated and given free medicines. Moreover, the Kuwait Red Crescent delegation visited the Pakistan Red Crescent’s water purification plant in Juhi, Dadu, where flood victims get clean drinking water.

According to Yusuf Al-Meraj, Director of Disaster Management and Emergency Unit, Kuwait Red Crescent would soon provide food, non-food items, and medicines to Pakistan Red Crescent for flood-affected areas in Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab provinces.

Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, the newly appointed Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society National Headquarters, appreciated the role of the Turkish, Qatar, and Kuwait Red Crescent Societies in mitigating the suffering of the most vulnerable in Pakistan’s devastating floods. “The Pakistan Red Crescent is reaching every flood-prone area of Pakistan to assist the flood-affected, and this will continue,” Chairman Laghari stated.

In a statement, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh Samar Ali Khan stated that PRCS-Sindh has already dispatched thousands of relief items, including tents, mosquito nets, stoves, kitchen sets, jerry cans, tarpaulin sheets, hurricane lamps, shelter tool kits, blankets, jackets, water filters, shawls, buckets, hygiene kits for children and women, and so on to Red Crescent District Branches in Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.

In response to the severe monsoon rains and flooding in various locations of Sindh, the majority of relief materials have been distributed immediately among flood-affected people in all eight districts. He added that PRC-Sindh would soon set up mobile health units, install more water purification plants and distribute cash grants for food to flood-affected families. Chairman PRC-Sindh urged everyone to donate medicines because thousands of people in each area are getting sick, and without the necessary medicines, doctors cannot treat them. If you can’t buy the medicines due to a lack of proper information, donate money to the Pakistan Red Crescent to purchase medicines.

More than 700 flood victims were treated at Pakistan Red Crescent’s free medical camp in Sujawal Thatta 

Karachi, September 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Sindh branch of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) organized a free medical in Sujawal, a flood-affected area of District Thatta, on September 04, 2022. Unprecedented rainfall and severe floods in Pakistan have affected more than 30 million people across the country and resulted in deaths and injuries and widespread displacement of residents of affected areas. Healthcare is an integral component of any flood emergency response. Assessing the need, the Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh organized a free medical camp.

A team of doctors comprising general physicians and specialists led by Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali Warsi, Health Committee Convener for PRC-Sindh, and Dr. Majid Alvi, PRC-Sindh Treasurer, treated over 700 flood victims in a one-day free medical camp. “Pakistan Red Crescent has also deployed its best lady doctors to treat women,” said Dr Warsi. Moreover, Dr. Majid Alvi stated that at this medical camp, doctors observed several patients with injuries and skin debases and hypothermia due to prolonged exposures to water. Moreover, waterborne infections such as diarrhoea, cholera, and typhoid mostly impacted children.

Kanwar Waseem, Provincial Secretary, PRCS-Sindh said that the teams of Pakistan Red Crescent are in the flood affected areas to help the flood victims. Hundreds of thousands of people are getting sick due to diarrhoea, skin and respiratory infections, malaria and dengue in these areas. They need medicines as doctors can’t treat patients without required medicines,” PRCS Sindh secretary Kanwar Waseem. “We need medicines desperately. Please donate medicines as per guidelines prepared by the health experts. If you can’t buy the medicines, give donations so that medicines could be purchased,” he added.

Turkish Red Crescent distributed relief items to flood victims in Thatta 

Karachi, September 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Turkish Red Crescent Society delegation and the Sindh Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent distributed a package of 150 Non-Food Items (NFIs) and 50 Food Items (FIs) to flood-affected families in Sajawal, Thatta District. The Turkish Red Crescent and Qatar Red Crescent delegations became very impressed and appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh after visiting their free medical camp organized for flood-affected people in Thatta, where more than 700 patients, including men, women, and children, were treated and given free medicines.

Kanwar Waseem, Provincial Secretary of Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh, thanked the Turkish Red Crescent for distributing the relief items to flood-affected families. “More flood-afflicted people are waiting for assistance. We are all trying hard, but to provide relief to the maximum number of people can only be possible with the help of philanthropists and donors, so come forward and join hands with Pakistan Red Crescent for flood victims,” urged Provincial Secretary.

Qatar Red Crescent Society and Pakistan Red Crescent work together to help the flood-affected people in Sindh 

Karachi, September 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):Unprecedented rainfall and severe floods in Sindh have affected thousands of people, causing extensive damage. Qatar Red Crescent Society and Pakistan Red Crescent are on the ground, responding and providing support to people in need. A delegation of the Qatar Red Crescent Society visited the Sindh Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent in Karachi and met with Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem.

The Qatar Red Crescent Society intends to visit the flood-affected areas and distribute the relief items to flood victims in Sindh. The delegate also visited the Emergency Operation Center of Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh and admired the dynamic projects and activities of the Sindh branch.

Provincial Secretary of Pakistan Red Crescent Sindh, Kanwar Waseem, appreciated the plans, intentions and efforts of the Qatar Red Crescent Society delegation to help the flood-affected people of Sindh. The Secretary also urged all philanthropists to make maximum donations to Pakistan Red Crescent for the flood-affected families so that the needy can be helped in time.

Karachi, September 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Floods in Pakistan have affected more than 30 million people across the country and resulted in deaths and injuries and widespread displacement of residents of affected areas. A delegation of Kuwait Red Crescent Society visited the Sindh Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent in Karachi and met with Chairman PRC-Sindh Samar Ali Khan, Senior Vice Chairman Raffique Ahmed Jafferi, Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem, Treasurer Dr Majid Alvi, Managing Committee Member Dr Syed Ali Warsi, and Deputy Director Media and Communication PRCS-NHQ Sher Zaman.

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society intends to provide flood victims with hygiene kits and food, as well as to arrange medicine for a medical camp in Sindh. The delegate will also visit the flood-affected areas and distribute the relief items.

Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Sindh, Mr Samar Ali Khan, appreciated the plans, intentions and efforts of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society delegation to help the flood-affected people of Sindh.
