Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has conveyed his congratulations to Senator Aimal Wali Khan upon his election as President of the Awami National Party (ANP).

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the commendation was communicated through a press release from Bilawal House’s Media Cell. In his message, Chairman Zardari expressed confidence that Senator Khan will uphold and advance the democratic and progressive ideals associated with Bacha Khan, under whose legacy the ANP was founded.

Chairman Zardari also highlighted the importance of the younger generation’s involvement in political leadership, reflecting on its significance in shaping a promising future for Pakistan. He expressed optimism for the country’s direction under new political leadership.

The PPP leader also noted past challenges in Karachi, including significant security concerns and infrastructural decay. He reiterated the Sindh government’s ongoing focus on improving water supply, sanitation, infrastructure, and transportation, promising that these efforts will continue with increased vigor.

Additionally, Khan directed party workers to draft recommendations for overhauling the water distribution system and expanding its reach, affirming the government’s commitment to not only maintain but enhance the delivery of clean water and other services to Karachi’s residents.

Karachi, Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, has sharply criticized the government’s current strategies for addressing tax evasion, suggesting that they inadequately target major offenders while oppressing the middle and lower classes.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor argued that despite efforts like blocking phone SIMs of tax evaders a move he supports the government’s broader approach is flawed. He highlighted the resistance from the “black economy mafia bosses” and the need for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to undergo a significant overhaul to remove corrupt officers who protect major tax evaders.

Shakoor emphasized the urgent need for courts to expedite the resolution of pending tax cases, which involve litigations worth billions of rupees. He also criticized the selective pressure on the salaried class and the relative ease with which higher earners evade taxes. The chairman lamented the indirect tax burden on poorer populations and the relief afforded to the elites.

Further addressing the systemic issues, Shakoor suggested employing artificial intelligence to enhance tax collection, leveraging extensive financial data held by the FBR and the State Bank of Pakistan. He decried the political protection afforded to major tax evaders, including some who hold positions within legislative bodies, undermining efforts to expand tax collection.

The PDP leader concluded by calling for an end to the hypocrisy in handling corruption, advocating for a more equitable approach to prosecuting offenders across the socioeconomic spectrum to truly address the root causes of fiscal discrepancies in Pakistan.

Karachi, At a Labor Day seminar organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Labor Wing in Karachi, key figures including Rana Muhammad Azam and Naeem Adil Sheikh advocated for significant improvements in workers’ compensation and benefits. They proposed raising the minimum wage to fifty thousand rupees and providing free health and education facilities to laborers.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the event at Insaf House aimed to honor the contributions of workers to the nation’s economy and discuss key issues affecting their welfare. The seminar was marked by calls for a substantial increase in the minimum wage, reflecting the essential role workers play in fostering national prosperity.
