YKK Pakistan donates 5 million to Pakistan Red Crescent for flood victims in Sindh and Punjab

Karachi, September 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Unprecedented flash floods caused by historic monsoon rains in Pakistan have affected more than 33 million, over 15% of the country’s 220 million population. Pakistan Red Crescent is working hard to reach as many flood affected areas as possible and provide relief to the flood victims.

Today, Mr. Hitoshi Yamaguchi the Managing Director of YKK Pakistan Private Limited visited the Sindh Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent in Karachi and met with Chairman PRC-Sindh Samar Ali Khan, Senior Vice Chairman Raffique Ahmed Jafferi, Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem, Treasurer Dr. Majid Alvi, and Managing Committee Member Dr. Syed Ali Warsi.

Mr. Hitoshi Yamaguchi was very impressed with the flood relief efforts of the Sindh Branch of the Pakistan Red Crescent. He donated 5 million rupees on behalf of YKK Pakistan to Pakistan red Crescent for flood-affected people in Sindh and Punjab. Mr. Hitoshi Yamaguchi also donated Rs. 200,000/- from his own to the PRC-Sindh for flood affectees.

Chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Sindh, Mr. Samar Ali Khan appreciated Mr. Hitoshi Yamaguchi and YKK Pakistan for their generous donation to help the flood affected families. The Chairman urged the business tycoons, philanthropists and donors to make maximum donations to the Pakistan Red Crescent for the flood-affected families so that the needy can be helped in time.

Red Crescent Medical Camp for flood victims in villages of Mirpurkhas

Mirpurkhas, September 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):District Red Crescent Branch Mirpurkhas in collaboration with Muhammad Medical College organized a free medical camp for the flood-affected people at Goth Allah Bachayo Rajor near Saman Goth area of Mirpurkhas. Doctors have provided treatment and medicine to more than 500 men, women, and children.

Dr Syed Razi Muhammad Chairman District Red Crescent Branch Mirpurkhas appreciated the efforts of doctors and supporting staff of Muhammad Medical College. Dr. Razi said that everyone who was affected by the floods deserves free and good care, so Pakistan Red Crescent will continue to organize more free medical camps in Mirpurkhas district in collaboration with Mohammad Medical College and other organizations.

PRCS marks World Humanitarian Day 2022 

Islamabad, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Red Crescent Chairman Abrar ul Haq says that the day remind us about those who lost their precious lives for humanitarian cause; says PRCS is advocating and stressing on all forums to make secure the humanitarian work inviting the efforts from governments, movement partners, health department and other stakeholders Pakistan Red Crescent Society in collaboration with Access English Micro scholarship project of RELO Pakistan marked the World Humanitarian Day celebration at its National Headquarters here today.

Around 100 students under the Access English scholarship program attended the lectures and were briefed on the importance, objectives and history of World Humanitarian Day. PRCS officers gave a detailed presentation to participants on Red Crescent’s countrywide humanitarian programs and initiatives. Students were sensitized on blood donation, First Aid skills to help people during disasters and emergencies.

On this occasion, students registered themselves as volunteers with PRCS Youth and Volunteer Department to join humanitarian activities. PRCS officers and staff also attended the ceremony. In his message on this occasion, PRCS Chairman Abrar ul Haq said that the day reminded us about those who lost their precious lives for humanitarian cause and it is due to their sacrifices, the humanitarian workers without any problems are reaching to the vulnerable be it anywhere in the world. He said Pakistan Red Crescent is committed to protect the humanity, providing relief and support to people through its humanitarian interventions.

He said that COVID19 pandemic has drawn attention across the world to the vital role of key workers, especially those employed in healthcare sector. Despite the hardships and health risks, hundreds of thousands of frontline workers have continued to do their jobs during the COVID19 pandemic, even at the cost of their own lives and safety of their families. “We pay tribute to all the humanitarian workers across the world those have been overcoming unprecedented access hurdles to assist people in this crisis”, he added.

Abrar ul Haq said that PRCS is advocating and stressing on all forums to make secure the humanitarian work inviting the efforts from governments, movement partners, health department and other stakeholders. World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is celebrated every year on 19 August. The day is recognized globally to pay tribute and homage to the brave hearts who leave no stone unturned to come forward and work towards a humanitarian cause. The theme for this year is “It takes a village to raise a child” aimed at showing the importance, effectiveness, and positive impact of humanitarian work.

Chairman Abrar ul Haq’s telephone call to IFRC Secretary General Jagan Chapagain

Islamabad, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Abrar ul Haq had a telephonic conversation with Secretary General International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) Jagan Chapagain today and discussed need for immediate relief for flood-hit areas in the country. Both the partners agreed to launch appeal for funds worth CHF (Swiss Franc) 35 million.

In the telephonic accord, both representatives decided to urge international bodies and humanitarian organizations to participate and join hands in the time of need to serve humanity and provide quick relief to rescue the flood affected people in Pakistan. During the conversation PRCS and IFRC reassured cooperation for relief and rehabilitation of the affected in coming weeks. Considering the emergency situation in the flood-hit areas, Chairman Abrar-ul-Haq requested for the facilitation in the provision of helicopters for the rescue operations in hard reach flood affected areas.

China donates $300,000 to PRCS for flood relief 

Islamabad, September 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Nong Rong on Tuesday handed over $300,000 emergency cash assistance to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to help flood disaster-affected people. Addressing the donation ceremony, the Chinese Ambassador said that Pakistan is now facing a severe flood disaster, which caused many casualties and heavy economic losses.

“We share the agony of those people who are caught in difficulties and troubles because of the flood. I am sure through our joint efforts; we will overcome the difficulties” he said. He said, Chinese President Xi JinPing, the other day had sent his message of sympathy over the flood disaster to the Pakistani President Arif Alvi, expressing that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners with a long tradition of mutual assistance, and China will continue to help and assist Pakistan’s relief work.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also gave his Message of Sympathy to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the same day, the Ambassador added. The Chinese people always remember when the Wenchuan earthquake hit China in 2008, Pakistan donated all the tents in storage to stricken areas. When the flood hit Pakistan, the Chinese Government immediately expressed concern and sympathy.

He said the first batch of 3000 tents was also handed over under the China Emergency Humanitarian Assistance. It is a part of our donation package worthy of 100 Million RMB, including 25,000 tents and other relief materials. Besides that, All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA) has donated 15.

Million Rupees to the PM Flood Relief Fund. Some of the Chinese enterprises in Pakistan are still working on providing more relief materials and cash donations to the local community. He added that the Chinese Government also promises to support Pakistan’s post-disaster reconstruction and promote bilateral cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation. The Ambassador further stated that the disasters have no emotion, but people do.

“Our actions of support and assistance highlight our ironclad brotherhood,” he added. Quoting President Xi Jinping as saying, “When brothers come together, there is nothing they cannot achieve,” I strongly believe that with the joint efforts of the Pakistani Government and people, Pakistan is sure to overcome the flood disaster at an early date.

Ms. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thanked the Chinese Government and embassy for emergency cash assistance for the flood-affected people by the Red Cross Society of China to Pakistan Red Crescent Society. She said Pakistan is currently facing devastating floods due to unprecedented monsoon rains.

During this difficult period, China, our iron brother and closest friend has once again risen to the occasion and provided us with much-needed timely assistance. There has been an extensive loss of human lives, livelihoods, livestock, crops, property and infrastructure all across Pakistan. Following the first steps of relief and rescue, the second stage of rehabilitation and reconstruction will start which would need even more substantial resources.

She said, “We are deeply grateful to our Chinese brethren for standing with us during this time of woe. We have received messages of condolences and sympathies from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang”. China has always been the first country to step up and support Pakistan in weal and woe. She added that we are grateful that throughout this adversity, the Government and people of China have stood with us and demonstrated compassion and generosity.

“We are thankful for the herculean efforts of the Chinese Embassy under the leadership of Ambassador Nong for providing us with assistance,” she concluded. Abrar ul Haq, Chairman PRCS, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, also thanked the Chinese Government and Ambassador Nong Rong for providing emergency cash assistance.
