Bahawalpur, April 20, 2023 (PPI-OT): The First IUB Ramadan Premier League 2023 organized by Directorate of Sports, IUB Sports Promotion Society, Directorate of Students Affairs and Directorate of Communication and Public Relations has concluded in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. In this seven-nights long league, as many as 48 teams from various departments and more than 600 students participated in this Ramadan League. The students of the hostels also enjoyed this league, the atmosphere of the festival in Baghdad-ul-Jadeed campus was lit up with the lights of cricket. IUB Wolves became the first champion team by defeating Markhor XI by eight wickets. From winning team Waqas Khalid, Muhammad Ali, Yousuf Anwar, Hafiz Marjan Haider and Dr. Umair Riaz performed prominently, while on behalf of the runners-up team, the performance of Muhammad Osama, Abdul Rahman and Abdullah Shafiq was outstanding.
The closing ceremony of the Ramadan Premier League was held at the Sports Complex in Baghdad-Jeeded, and the chief guest of closing ceremony was Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, while Prof. Dr. Aftab Hussain Gillani, Advisor IUB Sports Promotion Society, Mr. Amjad Farooq Warraich, Director of Sports and Dr. Azhar Hussain, Additional Director of Students Affairs (IUB Students’ Societies) were guest of honour. The Vice Chancellor in his address said that it was a pleasure to organize this league and the participation of such a large number of students. The floodlights, the design of this league and other arrangements were impressive. He also appreciated all the teachers who became a part of this league along with the students.
He further said that in the future such activities will be increased and more games will be added along with cricket. Earlier Prof. Dr. Aftab Hussain Gillani, Advisor IUB Sports Promotion Society and Mr. Amjad Farooq Warraich, Director Sports also congratulated the teams participating in this league and the organizers of this league for the successful organization and paid tribute to the vision of Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and also thanked them. Dr. Umair Riaz, Qazi Muhammad Irfan Khalil, Hafiz Marjan Haider, Adnan Haider, Yousuf Gill and Muneeb Ashraf were in the core committee of this league while Shoaib Manzoor, Mohsin Sattar, Ali Raza were in the umpiring committee.
In others, Hasnain Allah Dad, Muhammad Faizan and Muzamil Zaid in the scoring committee, Naqeeb Rashid, Malik Faisal, Arslan Asghar, Tayyab Malik, Usman Ghani, Talha Salahuddin, Hassan Bukhari, Asfand Muhammad, Muhammad Shahzad, Ali Raza in the field force committee. In the commentary panel Hafiz Marjan Haider, Khalid Saeed and Adnan Haider while Rehmatullah Sajid, Muneeb Ashraf and Yousaf Gill performed duties as food committee members. On this occasion, CEO Shamim Group of Industries, Rana Muhammad Khalid, Registrar IUB.
