Mardan, April 02, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Environmental Sciences, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan with the financial support from Water Aid Pakistan has started a week-long awareness campaign in Schools and Colleges in District Mardan to commemorate and contribute the global movement for accelerating changes to achieve SDG 6 – clean water and sanitation for all. The awareness campaign will continue till March 20, followed by a seminar on March 21, 2023. AWKUM teams conducting comprehensive awareness sessions covering the role of students in awareness raising around the theme; like, clean drinking water, adequate sanitation facilities and hygienic behaviour in approving the overall health and hygiene conditions of the society.

Overwhelmingly responses were received from the students and they took keen interest to interlink the poor WASH services with poor health and adequate WASH services with improved health and hygiene conditions’ conceptual model. Water Aid Pakistan and the Department of Environmental Sciences will continue to play their due roles in accelerating awareness among different stakeholders to put on track the SDG 6: clean water and sanitation for all.

Mardan, April 02, 2023 (PPI-OT):In the Department of Islamic Studies and English today, on March 22, 2023, a prestigious ceremony was organized under the title of welcoming Ramadan 2023 and our preparations in the light of the Prophet’s biography, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ayaz Ahmed, Chairman of the English Department. Dr. Sohail Anwar Coordinator MPhil Program, Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Coordinator BS Program, Dr. Liaquat Iqbal Coordinator BS English Program, Dr. Irfanullah Assistant Professor, Dr. Abzahar Khan Associate Professor, other faculty members, assisting staff and students have participated in many Number attended.

Chairman Department of Islamic Studies Abdulwali Khan University Mardan Professor Dr. Hafiz Salehuddin performed his duties as a resource person. Introductory remarks were given by Dr. Liaquat Iqbal while the introduction was presented by Dr. Sohail Anwar. In his lecture, Professor Dr. Salehuddin stressed on preparing ourselves spiritually for Ramadan, how can we make this Ramadan better and more effective than the previous Ramadan? In his address, he said that the blessed month of Ramadan is about to start from tomorrow and every Muslim should plan in advance to get happiness in this world and in the hereafter.

In order to reap maximum benefits from this holy month, we must first hold ourselves accountable. Self-accountability is very important, along with taking necessary steps for the betterment of our family members, our workplace. One has to present oneself as an honest teacher, a student, a responsible citizen and an excellent Muslim and at the same time fulfill one’s responsibility as an Ummah of the Prophet (P.B.U.H). He said that we must avoid unnecessary activities, gluttony, wasteful spending, and other bad deeds in Ramadan, and along with this, we should perform our duties, recite the Holy Qur’an, do dhikr and azkar, perform posthumous worship, tahajjud and charity.
