BERLIN, May 31, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — BERLINER TAGESZEITUNG reports today that a criminal complaint has been filed with the Berlin public prosecutor’s office against Elon Musk, file number: 253 UJs 1012/23, alleging that Musk charged Twitter users on their credit cards but blocked them without giving any reason.

“Blocking user accounts is a daily occurrence at Twitter, but the fact that they then continuously charge money to users’ credit cards makes the matter explosive and is currently occupying the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office (Federal Republic of Germany). In any case, the question arises as to how much power a medium like Twitter can be granted at all and when the regulatory authorities should intervene to protect Twitter users.”

Incidentally, this is not the first time Elon Musk has been investigated, as there is also currently an investor lawsuit against Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The lawsuit is about Musk’s tweets in August 2018 with the premature announcement that he wanted to take the electric car company off the stock market and had secured the financing to do so. It later emerged that there were no firm commitments from investors.

“Elon Musk lied,” said a lawyer for the plaintiffs.

US Judge Edward Chen (Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California) had already found in the 2022 trial that Musk’s statements in the tweets had not been true.

“We will continue to monitor the case closely and report further developments as new information becomes available. It remains to be seen how the criminal charges against Elon Musk and Twitter will develop and what the consequences might be.

From a factual point of view, it should be noted that according to Article 48 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the presumption of innocence applies to defendants and accused persons, which must also apply in the case of the criminal charges against Elon Musk for “suspected fraud to the detriment of Twitter users”.

PU PSC organizes lecture

Lahore, May 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), University of the Punjab, Lahore organized a lecture on May 30, 2023 (Tuesday) at 12:30 p.m. on “Sri – Lanka: Nation Ruled to National Rule.” Dr. Shanti Kumar Hettiarachchi, Professor, School of the Religion and Philosophy, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Minhaj University, Lahore was guest speaker. The guest speaker started the discussion with a brief historical background of Sri- Lanka in colonial context. He also threw light on geographical location and after makeup of the country to highlight its significance in South Asian region.

After shedding light on the colonial history of Sri-Lanka, he informed the audience about neo colonialism which is still prevalent in the international community of states. He also drew comparative analysis of both Sri-Lanka and Pakistan in colonial context. He concluded his discussion with the argument that Sri-Lanka, one a colonized country, is still not completely free from colonialism through apparently there is a national rule in the country of the recent wave of violence in Sri-Lanka.

All faculty members, M.Phil./Ph.D. scholars of the CSAS and various department of University of the Punjab, Lahore attended the event in which research scholars and the students participated actively.

Entrepreneurship to help stabilize economy- Hassan

Lahore, May 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): Advisor to the Prime Minister Mr Khawaja Ahmed Hassan has said that we have to take steps to create the spirit of entrepreneurship in our youth so that they can become job providers instead of job seekers. He expressed these views while addressing the ‘Entrepreneurship Gala 2023’ organized by Punjab University Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider, faculty members and a large number of students were present. In his address, Mr Hassan said that organizing such events to guide the students in the right direction was commendable.

He said that there was a need to promote entrepreneurship to improve the country’s economic situation. Dr Khalid Mahmood said that Punjab University was the best educational institution of Pakistan which had always produced capable people in every field. He also visited the stalls set up by the students. Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider said that the faculty members of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences guided the students to improve their skills along with education. IBA Karachi Launched a new office in Islamabad

Karachi, May 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi, in collaboration with the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF) Islamabad, has inaugurated a dedicated facility in the federal capital. The inauguration was attended by more than 200 participants from diverse fields. Focusing on IBA Karachi’s executive and organizational development philosophy, the new office will offer leadership and management development programs for family businesses, public sectors, state-owned enterprises, and corporates in the northern regions. IBA aims to bring opportunities for organizations and individuals through action learning-based capacity building initiatives, research, forums, think tanks, and consultancies.
