Impacts of Fasting on Physical and Spiritual Health

Faisalabad, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies organized a panel discussion on, “Impacts of Fasting on Physical and Spiritual Health” in Saleem Campus on March 31, 2023. Panellists included Dr Hifsa Munawar, Asst Professor Islamic Studies, Dr Nabila Faisal, Asst Professor of Biochemistry, Dr Tahmina Ateeq, Asst Professor Dentistry and Dr Kiran Zulfiqar, Senior Demonstrator Pathology, while Dr Humera Khalil, Asst Professor Islamic Studies was moderator of this informative session.

During the discussion, panellists threw light on the physical and spiritual benefits of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. Experts said that, fasting one of the five pillars of Islam, has great spiritual impacts. It strengthens our soul, brings us closer to our thoughts and emotions and relieves our worldly desires. Fasting boosts our will power, strengthens digestive system and can help lower of blood sugar and cholesterol of human body. They also discussed the social benefits fasting in the light of teachings of holy Quran and Hadith. Large number of students and faculty members attended the spiritual session.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s message on the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution

Karachi, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Former President of Pakistan and President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians, Asif Ali Zardari while congratulating the nation in his message on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution expressed his determination to render any sacrifice necessary for the protection of the Constitution. He said that the 1973 Constitution was gifted to the people by Quaid-e-Awam, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. It is a document that was formed by consensus and has the signatures of all the members of the National Assembly.

Asif Ali Zardari said that the importance of the 1973 Constitution can be gauged by how all the members in the National Assembly with different political and religious affiliations had signed the document, agreeing to the Constitution. He paid homage to all the politicians who signed the 1973 Constitution. He saluted the heroes of PPP who rendered great sacrifices for the restoration of the Constitution under the leadership of the Mother of Democracy, Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

President Zardari said that the restoration of the 1973 Constitution in its original form was the mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s life. This was achieved by restoring the Constitution in its original form through the 18th Constitutional Amendment. He said that the elected parliament of Pakistan is the biggest court of the people. All would have to surrender before this court, Asif Ali Zardari said. President Zardari said that our country is facing difficulties today as some elements had deviated from the Constitution. Hence, now is the time that we all follow the Constitution for the sake of the nation and the country. The power to make future decisions for the country should be left to the Parliament.

Peshawar, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):The educational activities at the University of Peshawar has been severely affected lately due to strike called by the teaching and staff associations. The students and their parents have shown severe concern regarding the situation. The senior students who are in their last semester have also requested for resumption of the classes as they will miss the higher education opportunities if the semester is not completed timely.

After the meeting of vice Chancellor with the HoDs, it is therefore decided that the classes of the programs including Arabic, Islamiat, Chemistry, Journalism, Law College, Psychology, Zoology, IMS, Environmental Sciences, Institute of Education and Research (IER), College of Home Economics, Art and Design, Physics, Geography, Pashto Academy, Economics, English, Commerce College, Peace and Conflict Studies and Disaster Management will resume from 10th April 2023.

All the faculty and students are informed to regularly start attending their classes in-person/online (Only during the month of Ramadan) from the said date onwards.

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s message on the Golden Jubilee of 1973 Constitution

Karachi, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the 1973 Constitution is our national agenda and bond of the Federation. In his message on the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution issued from Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman has extended heartiest congratulation to entire nation on the occasion. He said that the Constitution of 1973 is the gift and trust of the first elected Prime Minister of the country, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and saluted all the political leaders who played their role in creating a unanimous Constitution for the nation adding that after August 14, 1947, the second most important day in our national history is April 10, 1973.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Constitution of 1973 is a true reflection of Pakistan. As Pakistan is a Federal state, our Constitution is a Federal Constitution. Our country is an Islamic country, so the spirit of our constitution is Islamic teachings. We are a country of democrats, so ours is a democratic Constitution and is the guarantee of our national solidarity and unity, he added.

The PPP Chairman said that ever since the Constitution was made, it has been under attack. He said that some elements do not tolerate that the people get their rights, that the provinces own their resources, and that all are equal before the law. The approach that considers itself beyond the law considers the 1973 Constitution as its enemy. He said that the history of PPP in terms of making and safeguarding the Constitution is unparalleled. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari restored the 1973 Constitution to its original form by successfully removing the dictatorial pollution enacted into the Constitution by dictators Zia-ul-Haq, by General Pervez Musharraf.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the PPP stands by the protection and implementation of the Constitution and the democratic system as always, and is determined to finally defeat the thinking that considers the Constitution as just a piece of paper.

The Constitution of 1973 is our national plan of action and chain of federation, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the 1973 Constitution is our national agenda and chain of federation. According to a statement issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman has congratulated the entire nation on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution. He said that the Constitution of 1973 is the gift and trust of the first elected Prime Minister of the country, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said that he salutes all the political leaders who have played their role in creating a unified constitution for the nation. He said that after August 14, 1947, the second most important day in our national history is April 10, 1973.
