Engineering students partake in the International Electricity Pakistan Exhibition 

Lahore, March 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):In a bid to link the student to the industry titans, the Department of Electrical Engineering sent a delegation of 35 students to attend the 3rd International Electricity Pakistan Exhibition and Conference organized by FAKT Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd. This flagship event attracted professionals from a multitude of industries who were invited to discuss energy, storage, and power applications, prospects, and difficulties on March 26-28, 2022, at the Expo Center Lahore. Mr. Ashfaq Ali (Student and Chair, IEEE UOL Student Branch), guided the UOL students through the event and profoundly explained technical engineering designs to them.

Annual Sports Gala held at University of Education

Lahore, March 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):The opening ceremony of the Annual Sports Gala 2022 was held at the University of Education, Lahore on March 29, 2022, which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.). The inaugural ceremony was held jointly at the University’s Bank Road and Lower Mall Campuses.

Leading National Swimmer Bisma Khan was the chief guest at the ceremony held at Bank Road Campus while International Kabaddi player Shafiq Chishti at Lower Mall Campus. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) along with chief guests formally inaugurated the Annual Sports Gala which will be held from March 28 to April 1, 2022. The Sports Gala will feature separate competitions between male and female students in cricket, badminton, football, volleyball, tug-of-war, basketball, handball, athletics and table tennis.

Addressing the inaugural function, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) said that extra-curricular activities are as important in educational institutions as curricular activities. Participating in sports along with study has a very beneficial effect on the mental and physical development of the students.

Sports not only provide opportunities for entertainment but through sports we can give our students practical training in discipline which is required in every field of life. The Vice Chancellor urged the students to show full sportsmanship during the competitions. The chief guests on the occasion congratulated the University of Education and its Vice Chancellor for organizing the wonderful sports gala.

At the end of the event, Director Sports, University of Education, Dr. Muhammad Omar Saleem thanked the chief guests and other participant and briefed about the details of the five-day Sports Gala. The teams participating in the opening ceremony also had a beautiful march past on this occasion.

The Final Year Project of Electronic Engineering Department MUET won the gold medal in 37th IEEEP All Pakistan Students’ Seminar 

Jamshoro, March 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):The final year project titled “SMART Concrete Strength Measurement Device” from the Department of Electronic Engineering with group members Bushra Abro (17ES06), Mohammad Aamir (17ES10), and Zameer Hussain (17ES66) under the supervision of Engr. Bharat Lal, Lecturer, Department of Electronic Engineering and Co-supervision of Dr. Fareed Memon, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and Engr. Shankar Lal, Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering won the 3rd Prize with Gold Medal and a cash award of 15000 PKR in the 37th IEEEP All Pakistan Students’ Seminar held on 24th February 2022 at PNEC-NUST Karachi. The group member received the cash prizes and gold medal in 36th Multi-Topic International Symposium 2022 held on 16-17th March 2022 at PC Hotel Karachi.

The project aims to provide an Artificial Intelligence-based alternative solution to the concrete strength measurement system. The device can be used to measure the fixed compressive strength of concrete by varying different proportions of its ingredients (i.e. cement, coarse aggregates fine aggregates, and water). The designed device will be helpful for the construction industry to make quick decisions about projects and save material wastage.

Orientation Spring 2022 Semester 

Karachi, March 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):On Friday, 25th March, 2022 DHA Suffa University held its Orientation for the first semester students coming in Spring 2022 semester. They were given a very warm welcome. They were informed about the University’s Vision as well as its academic rules and regulations. The students were given a Campus Tour where different campus facilities were shown to them. They were also told about the various technical and social clubs and societies there were for their talent enhancement as well as for their socializing and extra-curricular ventures. GIK Wins the National Finals of Prestigious Microsoft Imagine Cup 2022 

Swabi, March 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):Microsoft Imagine Cup is a global competition of technology. Imagine Cup has inspired generations of students from around the world to build solutions to challenging problems. It is one of the most premier competitions on a global scale. Each year tens of thousands of teams apply with projects based on major technological advancements.

This year, more than 700 teams applied from Pakistan marking the most active participation on the international level. GIK’s project group from the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Engineering, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zahid Halim, applied to the competition with their project. The project has built a non-invasive portable brain computing interface that can connect around 1 billion people with disabilities to their smartphones via brain commands, potentially bringing a global influx of digital economy and remote work. The team comprised of Muhammad Hanzla Javaid, Muhammad Usman Zeb, and Abdul Rafay.

After a very rigorous procedure the GIKI’s team made it to the top in Pakistan and stood as national champions of the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2022 in Pakistan. The team will represent Pakistan in the world finals and compete with 48 teams from around the globe for the grand prize of $100,000 and mentorship from Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella. Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, SI, attended the prize distribution ceremony held at HEC, Islamabad and appreciated the efforts of all the participating universities.
