Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui Advocates for Dr. Aafia’s Release Through Nationwide Campaign

Karachi, Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui, chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement, is actively touring various cities and engaging with key figures to advocate for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is currently held in an American prison.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui’s recent activities included a meeting with the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Ghulam Ali, in Peshawar, where she discussed her sister’s case and the ongoing efforts for her release. Following this, she attended the “Palestinian Youth Conference” in Islamabad, organized by the Muslim Students Front Pakistan, signaling her broader engagement with human rights issues.

The campaign for Dr. Aafia’s release has gained momentum, with her American lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith, indicating that 2024 could be a pivotal year. He emphasized that Dr. Aafia’s release by the end of the year is possible with the concerted support of the Pakistani government, civil society, and public advocacy.
