Islamabad, April 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The event was enlightened by the unique efforts of students in promoting their country’s heritage. A wide diversity of ideas was presented by the participants. Pakistan’s culture and ethnic groups were beautifully portrayed. Tayiba Zainab won 1st position and was presented with the shield and certificate by Dr. Muhammad Tariq Khan and Miss Natasha Gohar.

Muhammad Jawad Hassan ranked 2nd, Laiba Shafique and Anosha Rizwan secured 3rd position while Muhammad Usman won 4th position. All of the winners were presented with respective certificates and were highly appreciated for their endeavour’s.

SDSB Alumni Association Honours Notable Alumni at Annual Reunion

Lahore, April 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): Based on the theme ‘Inspiring Luminites’, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) Alumni Association’s annual reunion was a lively affair held on February 25, 2023, at LUMS. Over 350 alumni from all graduating classes from 1988 to 2022, spouses, and industry practitioners gathered at the reunion event to network, reconnect, and celebrate their shared experiences.

The highlight of the evening was the ‘Pride of LUMS’ award, which honoured notable alumni who have made their mark professionally and made their alma mater proud globally. For the year 2023, the ‘Pride of LUMS’ was awarded to alumni, Dr. S. M. Ali Abbas, Mr. Azim A. Rizvee, and Mr. Omer Gajial. The award recognised their outstanding achievements and contributions to their respective fields and society.

In addition to alumni, their families, and faculty, the reunion was also attended by senior LUMS leadership including Mr. Abdul Razzak Dawood, Pro Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hussain, Rector, and Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah was also present at the event. The attendees of the event celebrated LUMS’ role as a symbol of hope and resilience during trying times, and emphasised the importance of the alumni and institution’s collaboration in order to bring the country out of its current struggles. The event was a testament to the power of the LUMS community and its commitment to excellence, innovation, and service.

Women Leadership Program complete at UVAS

Lahore, April 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged concluding ceremony of three-month long 1st UVAS Women Leadership Program (WLP) in connection with Women Empowerment through Women Involvement in Learning and Leadership (WE-WILL) with aims to address equity gap in women’s higher education leadership here at City Campus.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the concluding session of Women Leadership Program and distributed certificates among participants and resource person while Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Saima, Director Diversity and Inclusion Jazz Ms Sabahat Bokhari Chairperson Department of Anatomy and Histology Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb and many other senior female faculty and administration staff members from different campuses of UVAS were present.

While addressing the concluding ceremony, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that female strength is increasing almost 50 percent in faculty and administration of UVAS last two decades and they have equal rights and performing their duties with full of dedication. He acknowledged the role of Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb for successfully completed this program and her lead role especially in the establishment of UVAS Veterinary Academy and for the faculty development under Center for Educational Policy and Administration (CEPA) as well.

He said such woman leadership programmes are necessary to arrange continuously in a year for enhancing leadership, financial management, administration and governance skills in woman. He also congratulated to Assistant Prof Dr Saima Ashraf who has been selected in the ‘Aspiring Leaders Cohort’ of the ‘Pakistan Women Leadership in Higher Education’ program offered by Michigan State University USA and funded by the US Embassy Islamabad. Ms Sabahat Bokhari spoke about different initiatives taken by Jazz in terms of offering specific packages, livelihood, imparting education and providing business opportunities for woman empowerment.

Earlier, Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb spoke about the various inquiry (awareness, research-based, networking) projects submitted by UVAS female faculty members related to empowering woman by making their needs count, awareness about workplace ethics, attitudes and practices among female students in university, creating awareness about the importance of woman in leading academic position in higher education of Pakistan and stress management at workplace, challenges of woman at leadership position in universities, qualitative assessment of challenges faced by Pakistan female leaders, UVAS woman book club and networking and capacity building of female administrative staff.

Many well-known professors/experts from national and international institutions during women leadership program delivered their lectures to participants on leadership, governance, gender issues in academia, equity, sexual harassment, networking, career trajectories and financial management etc.

ITU vice chancellor prof. Dr. Adnan Noor Mian appointed as a chair holder of UNESCO chair

Lahore, April 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): It is our pleasure and honour to share that the UNESCO Chair of ICTD awarded to the Information Technology University of the Punjab has been extended till June 2026 and Prof. Dr. Adnan Noor Mian has been appointed as the Chair holder. Pakistan has only six UNESCO Chairs and ITU holds one of these. This award is an acknowledgement of the efforts and extensive research contributions of Dr. Adnan and ITU in the field of Information Technology.

Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob today met with Chairman Higher Education Commission, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad in his office at Islamabad. On this occasion, bilateral matters and mutual cooperation were discussed between the both institutions. The Vice Chancellor briefed the Chairman Higher Education Commission about the ongoing teaching and development activities in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a historical educational institution of the region which has become a major university in the country in terms of the number of students.

Jamia Islamia strives to promote high quality teaching and research in accordance with the policy guidelines of the Higher Education Commission. He said that, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed is playing a commendable role in the Higher Education Commission for the promotion of higher education in the country.
