PCB saddened with the passing of former Manager Media Khalid Butt 

Lahore, August 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its sadness at the passing of former PCB Manager Media Mr Khalid Butt and has sent a message of condolence to his family.

Mr Butt was a renowned journalist who had worked with Pakistan Times and APP. He also remained Resident Editor of Pakistan Observer. He joined Pakistan Cricket Board in January 2001 and worked as Media Manager till October 2002.

In a message, PCB Chairman Mr Ramiz Raja said: “On behalf of the PCB, I want to express my deepest condolences on the sad demise of Mr Butt.

“In these difficult times, the PCB stands together with Mr Butt’s family members and friends, and wish them the strength to cope with this sad loss.”

3rd consecutive win of University of Turbat in the All Balochistan Inter-Universities T-10 League 2022 

Turbat, August 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Turbat (UoT) attained 3rd consecutive victory in the All Balochistan Inter-Universities T-10 League 2022, played at Bolan Cricket Stadium (BCS) Quetta. The team UoT played their 3rd match with the Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences (QIMS) team on 4th August and beat the opposition by 30 runs. Batting first, the team UoT scored 110 runs for a loss of 5 wickets in the allotted ten overs.

Sohail Sohaib and Salman Naik scored 39 and 31 runs respectively. Shamsullah of QIMS got 2 wickets for 15 runs while Khurrum got 1 wicket for 10 runs. Chasing the target of 111 runs, the QIMS team was bowled out for 80 runs within 8.5 overs due to the brilliant bowling by Jalal (2/13), Bezan (2/14), and Sohail Sohaib (2/19). In this way, the team UoT achieved their third consecutive victory in the event. Sohail Sohaib of UoT team was declared man of the match for taking two wickets and scoring 39 runs off 19 balls.

Earlier, the team UoT also defeated the BUITEMS Zhob Campus team by 60 runs in their second match of the event on 3rd August. In this match, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the team UoT made a good total of 118 runs for a loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Abdul Waseh made an explosive 45 runs off 20 balls (not out), while Sohail Sohaib 24, and A. Faraz’s 15 runs helped UoT team to set a defendable target.

Zhob Campus’s Junaid Khan dismissed 2 wickets for 17 runs while Sabir Khan took 1 wicket for 11 in the match. Some tight bowling by the team UoT restricted the BUITEMS Zhob Campus team to 58 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 10 overs. The man of the match Atif Aman bagged 3 wickets for 8 runs and Talha Gichki took 2 wickets for 9 runs. Apart from Arsalan Khan (22 runs), none of BUITEMS Zhob Campus batsmen could play with confidence against the UoT’s bowlers.

Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, UoT, University’s officials, faculty members, and students congratulated their team for the superlative performance with bat and bowl and for winning three consecutive matches in the All Balochistan Inter-Universities T-10 League 2022. They expressed their best wishes for the team UoT in the upcoming matches.

MoU signed between CEMB and M.Y. Genetik Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratories Turkey 

Lahore, August 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab and M.Y. Genetik Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratories, Antalya, Turkey.

Director CEMB Prof Dr Kausar Malik and Director M. Y. Genetik Mr Mehmet Ulger mutually agreed on conducting joint research activities, workshops and training programmes related to plant sciences, especially in the field of vegetable breeding and crop improvements using classical and modern plant biotechnological tools. Dr Allah Bakhsh will be the CEMB coordinator whereas Dr Erdem Kahveci will be M.Y. Genetik coordinator in joint activities.

Rana Sanaullah attends Flags Hoisting Ceremony at IIUI 

Islamabad, August 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan is the center of hopes of the Muslim Ummah, said Federal Minister for Interior, Rana Sana ullah Khan on Friday, addressing a flag-hoisting ceremony held in connection with the Independence Day celebrations at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Rana Sana ullah also planted a sapling in front of the university administration block as a part of ongoing tree plantation campaign. He was apprised that August 5th was also the last date of the admission campaign of the university.

He said that on August 5, India caused another blow to the rights of Kashmiris. It is a day to express love for Pakistan and show solidarity to the people of Kashmir. He said that the struggle for the freedom of Kashmir will be successful. The Interior Minister added that the country is the fruit of the sacrifices of our forefathers. Rana Sanaullah said that we are the people who die in the honour of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Rana Sanaullah further said that Pakistan came into existence in the name of Allah and Kalima e Tayyaba.

Referring to Pakistan-Saudi relations, he said that Pakistan is grateful to Saudi Arabia and the custodians of the two holy mosques for cooperation. Rana Sanaullah said that Pakistan is returning to the path of development. He said that the efforts of the International Islamic University in the field of education are commendable.

On this occasion, General Secretary of Pakistan People’s Party Punjab Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad said that International Islamic University is a galaxy of students from different countries. Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed said that we are lagging behind in research. He said that the country’s economy is suffering and we need to come out of this crisis together. Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed said that the next decade belongs to the Middle East.

Dr. Hathal said that celebrations of Independence Day are the manifestation of one Nation, one destiny based on the principles of social justice, self-determination and equality. He added, in its 75 years, the Pakistani nation has witnessed many challenges and measured up to each one with resilience, resolve and pride. “Pakistan today is a country that exudes confidence and is brimming with promise” he said.

IIU President said that education is always a key to success and universities are the torch bearers of a nation that moves towards the destination of success and prosperity. He reiterated his resolve that International Islamic University will be among the leading ranks to make Pakistan proud across the nations through its skilled youth, research and academic excellence. On this occasion, Vice Presidents, Deans, Students Advisors, Provosts and other relevant officials of International Islamic University were also present. Foreign students studying in the university also participated in the event.
