PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pays tribute to Shaheed Salman Taseer

Karachi, January 03, 2022 (PPI-OT): Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid a rich tribute to the party leader and former Punjab Governor Shaheed Salman Taseer on his 11th martyrdom anniversary. According to a statement issued from the Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP in his message stated that Shaheed Salman Taseer had sacrificed his life for the promotion of tolerance and rights of minorities in the country.

He further said that the political struggle of Shaheed Salman Taseer is incomparable to any other and he is a true hero of the nation. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also said that Shaheed Salman Taseer believed in the unity of the Pakistani people. He said that the day of martyrdom of Shaheed Salman Taseer reminds us that we have to save Pakistan from the fire of extremism and terrorism. “We have to stop the misuse of laws,” said Chairman PPP.

Chairman PPP further reiterated his commitment to make Pakistan a society based on equality and a progressive federal democratic state in the light of the ideas of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This was the cause for which Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Salman Taseer, and many other jiyalas embraced martyrdom.

Habib Oil Mills Donates PKR 15 Million for the Pediatric Cancer Ward for the New Hospital Building

Karachi, January 03, 2022 (PPI-OT): Habib Oil Mills generously donated PKR 15 million for a 6-bed ward bay in the Pediatric Cancer Unit for the new hospital building under construction at Korangi, Karachi. The cheque was presented to Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, CEO, Indus Hospital and Health Network by Mr. Moeed ul Hassan, MD, Habib Oil Mills during an event organized by Habib Oil Mills.

Thanking HOM for its generosity, Dr. Bari said, “We believe that only through collaboration and synergizing our efforts can we complete the new hospital in time so that we can serve millions of more patients.” Mr. Moeed ul Hassan while appreciating the efforts of Indus Hospital and Health Network said, “It is a happy moment for us at HOM to be a part of Indus and hopefully many children will be treated and bring joy to their families.”

The childhood cancer ward will be in memory of HOM’s Ex-Managing Director, (Late) Mr. Tanveer ul Hassan. In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility philosophy, HOM has always championed IHHN’s mission for making free and quality healthcare available and accessible to all Pakistanis. KP Assembly adopts three resolutions

Islamabad, January 03, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) transacted half of its agenda and adopted three resolutions on Monday, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.

Following are key observations of the House proceedings during the 28th sitting of 20th session:

Members’ Participation

The House met for an hour and 31 minutes.

The sitting started at 03:04 pm against the scheduled time of 02:00 pm.

The speaker presided over the entire proceedings.

The deputy speaker did not attend the sitting.

The leader of the House (chief minister) was not present.

The opposition leader attended the entire sitting.

As many as 41 MPAs (28 percent) were present at the outset and 59 (41 percent) at the adjournment of the sitting.

Parliamentary leaders of all political parties were absent.

Three out of four minority lawmakers attended the sitting.

Output

The House adopted three resolutions demanding the government to withdraw fuel price adjustment charges from electricity bills, finalize service structure of local government department’s employees and prepare centralized data of criminals involved in kidnapping of children. These resolutions were sponsored by PML-N, PTI and PPPP lawmakers respectively.

The Minister for finance introduced the Khyber Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 202.

Another bill – the KP Deserving Artists Welfare Endowment Fund Bill, 2021 – was deferred due to the absence of relevant minister.

Representation and Responsiveness

The House took up four out of seven starred questions while the remaining three questions were lapsed due to absence of relevant lawmakers. In addition, lawmakers asked four supplementary questions.

An adjournment motion about missing fertilizer from the markets of Dera Ismail Khan was deferred due to the absence of relevant lawmaker.

Ministers for housing responded to a calling attention notice regarding non-induction against 3000 posts in education department announced for merged districts of the province.

Another CAN on the agenda was not taken up due to the absence of mover.

Three lawmakers debated an adjournment motion for twenty minutes which was about adopting modern investigation techniques to trace the kidnapping cases.

Order and Institutionalization

Two lawmakers spoke on points of order for six minutes.

The House was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 02:00 pm.

Transparency

‘Orders of the Day’ was available for the legislators, observers and the media.

Attendance of the lawmakers was not available for the observers and the media.
