Student Grievance Committee (Exams) 

Rawalpindi, January 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):In response to the HEC Policy Guidelines for Implementation of Uniform Semester System in HEI’s of Pakistan. The Student Grievances Committee (exams) was constituted by the Vice Chancellor on November 2, 2017. The committee comprises the following:

Controller of Examination – Chair

Dr. Shazia Iftikhar, Associate Professor, Environmental Sciences – Member

Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Associate Professor, Economics – Member

Relevant HOD/Dean as and when required

Assistant Registrar (Academic) – Secretary

Following are the Terms of Reference:

1. The committee redress the grievance of the students about any course instructor.

2. The committee redress the grievance of the students about grades or for any other issue.

3. In respect of grade, a student must submit the grievance application if any, in writing to the Head of the Department within (07) seven working days of the receipt of grade.

4. The Head of Department shall forward the grievance application to the Committee.

5. It will be mandatory for the Committee to hear both sides (student and the instructor).

6. The committee will give its final decision within (05) five working days or before the start of registration for the new semester, whichever comes earlier.

The decision of the committee will be deemed final and will be binding on all parties.

Draws Ceremony for Umrah, House Building Loan, Laptop and Annual Dinner held 

Khairpur, January 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Draws Ceremony for Umrah, House Building Loan, Laptop Distribution and Annual Dinner hosted by the Officers Welfare Association (OWA), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Prof. Dr, Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto remarked that it is immense pleasure and rejoice for me to preside this graceful ceremony. He said officers are the main stakeholders and administrative skeleton of the University. Their role is very important in the public delivery. Dr. Ibupoto narrated that our officers are rendering their best services in upholding the name of the University. Since my joining as Vice Chancellor, the stringent administrative measures and reforms have been taken in order to maintain the transparency, good governance and effective working mechanism.

Mr. Farhan Latif Memon, President, OWA and Mr. Feroz Ali Phulpoto, General Secretary commended the tangible administrative initiatives taken by the Vice Chancellor. They said the incumbent Vice Chancellor has taken the measures to maintain the fiscal discipline so the salaries and other legal monitory facilities are extended timely to the all employees. They assured the Vice Chancellor that they will render their services for uplifting the institution.

Mr. Masood Memon, Mr. Manzoor Markhand, Mr. Muzaffar Junejo, Syed Waqar Shah, Syed Najam Shah Rashdi, Mr. Saif-ur-Rehman Kalhoro, Mr. Ali Murad Behan Ms. Ghazala Shaheen and Mr. Mujahid Pathan were lucky to get Umrah Tickets. Mr. Arab Phulpoto, Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, Mr. Nadeem Ali Bhutto, Mr. Ubedullah Memon, Mr. Ramzan Ali Rind, Mr. Abdul Majeed Shaikh and Syed Zafar Ali Shah got House Building Loans while Mr. Shafique Ahmed Pathan, Mr. Tahir Abbas Khaskheli, Mr. Javed Lashari and Mr. Tanveer Memon got Laptops.

The Dinner was also followed by Sufi Musical Concert. Prof. Dr. Akhtiar Ali Ghumro, President, Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers’ Association (SALUUTA), Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibupoto, Registrar and a large number of Officers, Sectional Heads and others attended the Ceremony and Dinner.

Software Technology Park would be set up at University of Turbat 

Turbat, January 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), an organization of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) will set up a Software Technology Park (STP) at the University of Turbat to provide state-of-the-art IT sector facilities along with uninterrupted high-speed internet services and training to the youth and IT professionals of the region under one roof. These views were expressed by Muhammad Akbar, Senior Manager of Software Technology at the MoITT, during an awareness seminar on Software IT Park.

The seminar was organized by PSEB in collaboration with the University of Turbat at Law College Turbat on 20th January 2022. Regional Manager, PSEB, Asmat Ullah, UoT’s Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, Dean Faculty of Science and Technology, Dr. Naeemullah, Director Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) Dr. Ghulam Jan, Chairperson, Computer Science Department, Mukhtar Hussain, Director Public Relations, Ijaz Ahmad, faculty members, students, and IT-related businessmen and professionals attended the seminar.

Addressing the seminar, Muhammad Akbar said that state-of-the-art infrastructure would be provided in the software IT park to be set up at the University of Turbat which will be very helpful in promoting IT-related business activities in this part of the country. Besides creating employment opportunities, this IT Park will enable a large number of youths including women to start earning as freelancers using their skills through the internet, instead of relying on government jobs.

“Private IT companies and professionals of the area will be provided space, modern facilities, training, and guidance to enhance their business at IT Park. The purpose of setting up Software Technology Park in remote areas of Balochistan under the Software Technology Park Project is to provide better IT facilities to the youth of Balochistan.” Muhammad Akbar underscored, adding that the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Jan Mohammad was a visionary leader and under his leadership, the University has made great progress in a short span of time.

Meanwhile, an interactive session was also organized where the participants asked questions and got information from the speakers about the ongoing training, certificate courses, and internship programs under the MoITT. On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, and Director ORIC, Dr. Ghulam Jan thanked the representatives of PSEB for organizing an awareness seminar on STP at the University of Turbat and assured all possible assistance for the capacity building of the youth in IT sector. They said that the plans of PSEB for establishing STP at UoT and providing high-speed internet connectivity in remote areas of Balochistan were commendable. In the end, the Registrar and Dean Dr. Naeemullah presented shields to the guests on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.

Session on “How to build a Career in Tech” by Mr. Ahmed Ayub, Co-Founder at Airlift

Karachi, January 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Google Developer Student Club at DHA Suffa University in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development organized a session on How to build a career in tech specifically for Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Data Science students.

Where the Chief Guest and speaker Ahmed Ayub joined us. The Co-Founder at Airlift, which is a Pakistani-based tech startup operating in logistics and quick commerce. The company was launched in 2019 as a decentralized urban mass transit startup that allowed customers to book fixed-rate rides on buses and vans on their network fleet. In 2020, Airlift diversified into last-mile delivery through Airlift Express, delivering essential households in 30 minutes across nine cities in Pakistan, and has also expanded in South Africa delivering food supplies, households supplies, pharmacy, and more.

On this mission to enable self-empowerment in the region, Airlift raised USD 110m+ in venture financing. The session was focused on helping students understand the journey of a Software engineer in the corporate tech industry vs a startup. The Story of first made in Pakistan tech company airlift was also emphasized proving the khudi philosophy of Iqbal to build our products for ourselves first, so we don’t have to import all the goods but become exporters of our tech product to the world, where the session was joined by Faculty Advisor Eram Abbasi and the distinguished Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas where he emphasized skill-based learning to students and become job providers of the future and appreciated the efforts of the core team of GDSC and CEID department for organizing the session.

HBL PSL 7 commentators unveiled 

Karachi, January 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Some of the leading cricket commentators will call the HBL Pakistan Super League 7 action. The Pakistan Cricket Board today unveiled the commentators for the upcoming edition, which will commence at Karachi’s National Stadium from 27 January.

Former England cricketer Nick Knight and Mike Haysman, the former first-class cricketer and now one of the most credible voices in world cricket, will mark their HBL PSL commentary debuts. This will be Haysman’s third visit to Pakistan in a year, after his stints in South Africa’s tour of Pakistan and the National T20 last year.

Former England captain David Gower returns for his second consecutive stint after the legendary commentator made his appearance in the Karachi-leg of the 2021 edition. Former New Zealand and Zimbabwe pacers Danny Morrison (Lahore matches only) and Pommie Mbangwa (Karachi matches only) also join the HBL PSL commentary roaster once again.

The Pakistan contingent of the commentators include former Pakistan cricketers Bazid Khan, Marina Iqbal, Sana Mir, Urooj Mumtaz and Waqar Younis, along with Tariq Saeed, the pioneer of Urdu commentary.

The action will be called in both English and Urdu languages to bring both international and local audiences closer to action. Thirty High-Definition cameras along with buggy and drone cameras will embellish the viewing experience of the fans of the league in Pakistan and around the world.

The Spider Cam will once again bring up and close experience with in-match chats between the players and commentators.

Presenter Erin Holland also marks a return to the league. Sikander Bakht and Zainab Abbas will host the pre- and post-match shows.

Cricket fans in Pakistan will be able to watch the HBL PSL 7 in high-definition on A Sports and PTV Sports, while viewers around the world can watch the action live on Willow TV (North America), Flow Sports (Caribbean), Sky Sports (United Kingdom), Sky Sport (New Zealand) and Super Sport (Africa).

Senior PPP leaders call on Khurram Nawaz Gandapur 

Lahore, January 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):The spokesperson of Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Zulfikar Ali Badar and brother advocate and political secretary Waseem Sadiq called on PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur in his office at the party’s Central Secretariat. Central PAT Secretary Information Noorullah Siddiqui and Central Vice-President Raja Zahid Mahmood were also present in the meeting.

Zulfikar Ali Badar paid glowing tributes to Shaykh ul Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on his multifaceted services in various fields of life. He said that the educational institutions set up by Minhaj-ul-Quran International are playing their excellent role in the formation of an educated Pakistan. He further said that the services of Dr Tahir ul Qadri for reforms and changes in the curriculum of religious seminaries are praiseworthy.

The PAT and PPP leaders also discussed the prevailing political situation in the country and agreed that comprehensive reforms are needed to make the system of justice effective and efficient. They also expressed the resolve to continue the political dialogue in the future.

Zulfikar Ali Badar further said that the PPP has always supported the cause of justice for the martyrs of Model Town tragedy. He said that the provision of justice is essential for those martyred by police brutality in 2014.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the Islamic and cultural centres set up inside Pakistan as well as abroad are making important contribution to promoting the peaceful message of Islam and interfaith dialogue. He said that more than 1.5 lakh students are studying in the educational institutions working under the umbrella of MQI.
