IBA Faculty publishes her poetry collection

Karachi, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ms. Fatima Ijaz, Visiting Faculty, Department of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts, School of Economics and Social Sciences, has published her poetry collection in a book titled, ‘The Shade of Longing and Other Poems’. The book is available as a printed edition and an e-book. The book is published by The Little Book Company Pakistan.

The Shade of Longing and Other Poems is a collection of poems that are personal keepsakes for eras, people and places that no longer exist. The book is intended as a portal to enter these otherwise lost worlds. The collection traces the journey from one memory book to another, reaching a state of not-there, not-here, to losing faith, to finally reaching a sense of closure. On the way there are musings, detours, some games of solitaire.

CICT conducts a project symposium under Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan National Youth Development Program

Karachi, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The IBA-CICT conducted a project symposium to showcase the projects carried out by its students as part of the Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan National Youth Development Program. Projects on Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Web Software and Mobile Application Development and Internet of Things (IoT) were exhibited.

Director, General National Vocational and Technical Training Commission NAVTTC, Ms. Nabila Umer graced the occasion and motivated the students for their future endeavours. Attendees included, Head of CICT, Dr. Faisal Iradat, Mr. Azizullah Chandio, Mr. Bharat Kumar, Mr. Shafey Ali Shah and Mr. Abdul Qadeer Sahoo. The organizing team included, Mr. Muhammad Sohaib, Mr. Kanwar Muhammad Zarar, Mr. Bilal Shah, Ms. Mahwish Ahmed, Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Rajput and Mr. Hasanuddin.

FoodFusion, YouTube channel of IoBM alumnus Asad Memon, is the first Pakistani food channel to reach 1 billion views

Karachi, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Asad Memon, an IoBM alumnus (BCS 2004, MBA 2008), established his YouTube channel FoodFusion on May 9, 2016, with his wife, Saima. FoodFusion has become the first Pakistani food channel on YouTube to cross 1 billion views. The channel has been attracting viewers from across the world because of the delectable recipes they share and the name has become synonymous with Pakistani women and men who love to cook. As a student at IoBM, Asad was the President of a student society, Club IT. He also represented IoBM at the national level to win two national prizes at Computer Science competitions at GIKI and FAST. Asad is making IoBM and Pakistan proud.

Overseas Exam Software Installation/Configuration and Guidelines – Fall 2021 Mid-Term

OVERSEAS EXAMINATION RULES AND REGULATIONS

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Overseas Exam Software and related materials have been made available for download. Please make sure to install the latest exam application available on the link given below. Students must follow the sequence of instructions given below for smooth and error-free installation:

A student must have complete administrative access to their machine (i.e., desktop or Laptop). The internet connection must be personal. Do not use an office system and internet connection with administrator restrictions/policies.

1. HARDWARE

Core i3 (or above)

2 GB of Ram (Minimum)

Internet Connection (2 MB Minimum)

One external USB webcam with a built-in microphone, wide lens, and at least a 2-meter-long cable.

Note: A student may use their mobile as an external webcam. Visit the following link for more details (DROIDCAM Guide)

2. OPERATING SYSTEM

Use only a Windows 10 (64 bit) system equal or above version 1909

Select the Start button – Settings – System – About – Windows Specifications – Check Version.

For MAC users the exam application is not compatible with the MAC Operating System. However, a student may Dual Boot their MAC system with a Windows Operating System by following the instructions mentioned in the given link https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201468

Note: Use of Virtual Machine Software is strictly prohibited.

Uninstall antivirus applications and disable windows firewall before installation.

System default language MUST be English (United States).

It can be set from Start button – Settings – Time and Language – Language – Windows Display Language – English (United States).

No proxy software, VPN software, Virtual Machine software, or remote-control software (except TeamViewer only) should be installed or configured on the machine

(e.g., AmmyAdmin, Remote Desktop Managers, hotspot shield, LogMeIn, Parallels Access, VMWare, etc.).

PRE-REQUISITE SOFTWARES AND EXAM APPLICATION INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Download and install in sequence the following pre-requisite softwares and Exam application on your Windows system from the following link only: https://qb.vu.edu.pk

a) VUTES Overseas 2.1 (Updated) (VUTES Guide)

b) TeamViewer (TeamViewer Guide)

An icon of VUTES will be visible on their desktop after the installation of the VUTES exam application. Please double-click the icon to run the demo test.

DEMO TEST

A student may test their installation by joining any of the following sessions FROM (January 01, 2021) to (January 08, 2022), during the specified session timings as mentioned below:

Session 1: 08:30 AM to 09:30 A.M (PST)

Session 2: 10:30 AM to 11:30 A.M (PST)

Session 3: 12:00 PM to 01:00 P.M (PST)

Session 4: 02:30 PM to 03:30 P.M (PST)

Session 5: 04:00 PM to 05:00 P.M (PST)

Session 6: 05:30 PM to 06:30 P.M (PST)

Session 7: 07:00 PM to 08:00 P.M (PST)

Please use the student ID as a login and password for login into the exam application to check the demo test. For example,

After completing the demo test, the student must confirm their installation status by clicking the link “Click here to confirm the installation status” given on http://qb.vu.edu.pk

The Login ID and password mentioned on the date sheet will only be accessible during the actual exam time (i.e. according to Pakistan Standard Time).

Note:

There are no invigilators present during the demo sessions, so no need to reply to the messages during the demo.

PIFD Vice-Chancellor paid visits at UVAS

Lahore, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Meanwhile Vice-Chancellor from Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) Prof Hina Tayyaba Khalil visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad at City Campus.

Prof Nasim Ahmad briefed Prof Hina Tayyaba Khalil on the UVAS academic, research, extension, advisory services and training programmes. He also showed a UVAS video documentary to Prof Hina Tayyaba to give an overview of UVAS research, development interventions and student strength along with national and international collaboration. They also discussed the areas of collaboration for the promotion of academic cooperation.

Later Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad along with Prof Hina Tayyaba Khalil visited the various departments of city campus including Veterinary Academy, Pet Centre and Biosafety level-3 laboratory while Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Registrar Sajjad Hayder and few faculty members were also present on the occasion.

UVAS holds Umrah Draw ceremony

Lahore, January 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore conducted a draw to select three university employees from teaching, administrative and B and C staff to perform Umrah. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the draw ceremony, picked and announced the names of three lucky winners. University faculty and administrative staff were present on the occasion.

According to the draw results, Associate Professor Dr Haroon Akbar of the Parasitology Department and Agriculture Officer Muhammad Saeed Ahmed were selected from faculty and administrative staff respectively while Ms Robina Shaheen was selected from among the employees of grade-1 to 15. Speaking on the occasion, the Prof Nasim congratulated the Umrah draw winners. He advised all the employees to work hard as one unit for the development of UVAS and the country.
