Briefing meeting with new Chairman and managing committee members of PRC-Sindh 

Karachi, December 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):The newly nominated Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh Samar Ali Khan, visited Sindh Provincial Headquarter on Friday, December 17, 2021. The Vice-Chairman Rafique Ahmed Jaffri, Honorary Treasurer Dr. Majid Alvi, members of the managing committee Asfandyar Jahangir, and Dr. Ali Syed Muhammad Warsi with Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem greeted new members.

Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem provided an overview of the Sindh Branch of Pakistan Red Crescent, including history, operations, and initiatives. In addition to the Chairman, the briefing meeting was also beneficial for new managing committee members Adnan Asdar Ali, Mehreen Saeed, and Irshad Ali Kassim.

Chairman Samar Ali Khan praised ongoing activities and expressed his determination to work in the Red Crescent for the cause of humanity. He hoped that the new team, with the support and experience of Senior Managing Committee members, shall contribute its effective role in changing the lives of the most vulnerable. He assured his full cooperation and support for this noble work.

Superior and Quaid-e-Azam University Sign MoU for Academic, Scientific, and Cultural Cooperation 

Lahore, December 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Superior University, Lahore, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. The landmark MOU underlines a bipartisan commitment to establish a mutually beneficial relationship built on academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation.

Under the agreement, both institutions agreed to exchange faculty members and researchers in order to offer courses and carry out research projects. Moreover, both parties also agreed to the exchange of graduate and postgraduate students with the objective of enrolling students in courses appropriate to their year and area of study.

Superior and Quaid-e-Azam University would also arrange for the exchange of visiting scholars and postdoctoral fellows. The objective would be to work together to facilitate scientific publications, study programs, academic projects, books, course information, seminars, and conferences.

One of the major features of the agreement would be to jointly develop linkages between academicians and researchers and conduct training workshops for the technical staff. The MOU shall remain in effect for a period of five (5) years. The agreement may be modified or extended by mutual consent after a period of five years.

Vice-Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali and Rector Superior University, Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman signed the document in a ceremony organized on the campus attended by officials from Superior University and Quaid-e-Azam University.

On this occasion, Dr. Sumaira Rehman said that the agreement reflects both universities’ sustained commitment to promoting credible and pertinent academic research. Dr. Sumaria said that Superior University was one of very few institutions in the country that had been actively committed to promoting a culture of research in the country.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulates APPLU President and his entire team on their victory in CBA referendum 2021 at State Bank of Pakistan 

Karachi, December 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has felicitated the All Pakistan Progressive Labour Union (APPLU) President Mohammed Afzal Khan Khattak and his entire team on their victory in CBA referendum 2021 at State Bank of Pakistan. In a statement issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman said that PPP supported APPLU in the referendum as the Party has been pioneer and torch-bearer of the movement for labour rights and trade unions in the country.

He said that it was the basic right of labour community to elect their representatives through fair democratic means. PPP has been struggling for the rights of labour and other toiling classes since its inception and will continue, he added. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari assured full support to the trade union activities of workers everywhere and vowed that our Party together with Peoples Labour Bureau, will always be in the forefront of labour rights movement all over Pakistan.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulates employees reinstated by the Supreme Court 

Karachi, December 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate 16,000 employees and congratulated the employees and their families. Chairman PPP said that party lawyers Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Latif Khosa, Raza Rabbani, Aitzaz Ahsan and others presented the case of sacked employees in the best possible manner. Due to the efforts of the Pakistan People’s Party, these 16,000 employees had already been reinstated by the Parliament. The PPP has always stood by the working class and will continue to do so, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari concluded.

Dua ceremony held for the departed souls of APS Peshawar 

Lahore, December 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):The meeting of MQI Lahore Executive Council was held with President Rana Nafees Hussain Qadri in the chair. The participants made Dua for the departed souls of the martyrs of APS Peshawar tragedy. Addressing the meeting, Rana Nafees Qadri said that the martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar are our heroes. He said that the exemplary sacrifices of the innocent children can never be forgotten. He said that the teachers and students united the nation against terrorism by giving the supreme sacrifice of their lives.

President of MQI Lahore chapter said that that in addition to being the tragedy of epic proportions, December 16 is also a day of renewing our pledge to make all possible efforts to eradicate terrorism, violence and extremism. He said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri wrote a 600-page historic decree against terrorism in line with the real Islamic teachings. He said that this Fatwa highlighted the Islamic perspective from East to West and exposed those who sought to use the name of Islam to justify their nefarious actions.

Rana Nafees Hussain Qadri said that Islamic peace curriculum and counter-terrorism is a guarantor of peace and security around the world. He said that this great scholarly work should be included in the educational syllabi so that our succeeding generations can make themselves aware of the teachings of our great faith. He said that this work will also help in making a comprehensive and coordinated policy against terrorism.

The Executive Council meeting approved the decision of setting up a medical camp in Raiwind on December 19. Prof Zulifqar Ali, Ishtiaq Hanif Mughal, Fl. Lt. (r) Abdul Majeed, and Rana Ateeq-ur-Rahman were present on the occasion.

Traders’ delegation visits MQI, meet Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, December 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):The office-holders of the Traders Associations Wahdat Road and Muslim Town visited the central secretariat of MQI on the invitation of Awami Tajir Ittehad. The traders led by president of the Wahdat Town Association Muhammad Fayyaz Chaudhry called on MQI Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur in his office. Chairman Awami Tajir Ittehad Haji Muhammad Ishaq, President Altaf Randhawa, Secretary General Rashid Chaudhry, and Lahore chapter president Naveed Butt and others were also present in the meeting.

The delegation visited Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam, Farid-e-Millat Research Institute, E-learning, Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan, and Gosh-e-Durood. Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the resolution of the problems faced by the traders is inevitable for economic stability in the country. He said that the traders are the backbone of the country’s economy. He said that business-friendly policies need to be introduced so that more and more economic activity can be generated.

Muhammad Fayyaz Chaudhry, president of Traders Association Wahdat Road, stated that the services of MQI for the eradication of extremism and sectarianism and the promotion of peace and knowledge are praiseworthy. He said that economic development is directly linked to peace and stability in the country. He said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has presented a peaceful face of Islam in the world, adding that institutions such as MQI are the pride and grace of our country.
