Under-training ASPS call on CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):A batch of under-training ASPs of the 49th specialized training program called on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at his office where the CM spoke to them and answered their questions. The CM noted that a better police attitude towards people would earn and enhance institutional respect at the grassroots. Human dignity should be honoured in police stations, he suggested and maintained that no one could fire the ones who deliver and ensure good governance.

Police officials are part of this society; the more you serve the people, the more respect you earn, he added. Along with hard work, prayers of the family members also help to get through the competitive exam, Parvez Elahi said. The CM stated that the police will be given drones and other modern equipment, including modern armoured vehicles, to deal with the criminals. The use of force should be the last option, he spoke and indicated that the issues should be resolved through dialogue.

Pakistan has not experienced economic crises of such magnitude in the past. The government would complete the unfinished police reforms agenda if it came to power again, the CM added and maintained that registration of FIRs is a public right. Those failing to register FIRs would be liable to be punished. The condition of police in Sindh is bad while the police in KPK enjoy a good reputation, he declared.

Parvez Elahi apprised that a special force was being formed to deal with drugs in educational institutions. Similarly, reform would be introduced to transform jails into rehabilitation centres. Alongside this, education has been made free up to BA and rescue 1122 emergency service has been upgraded, he concluded. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal, ACS (Home) Asadullah Khan, former principal secretary GM Sikandar, Secretary Information Salute Saeed and police officers were also present.

Raja Basharat and Aslam Iqbal call on Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Raja Basharat and Mian Aslam Iqbal met with the Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at CM office today in which matters pertaining to political situation and appointment of Caretaker Chief Minister came under detailed consultations. The committee meeting being headed by the Speaker Punjab Assembly was also discussed.

CM while talking on the occasion stated that we proposed names of impartial personalities for the Caretaker Chief Minister while the opposition by proposing names of biased personalities have made a mockery of themselves. The opposition parties tried to make their politics flourish on proposing names of Caretaker Chief Minister.

CM maintained that whatever the opposition parties desire and dream will never be fulfilled. CM hoped that the committee headed by the Speaker Punjab Assembly will reach to some positive conclusion with regard to the appointment of Caretaker Chief Minister.

The committee comprising Raja Basharat, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Hashim Jawan Bakht will do negotiations with an open heart. CM outlined that we would strive to reach a consensus on the name of Caretaker Chief Minister as soon as possible. CM maintained that Insha’Allah a Caretaker Chief Minister will be the one on whom no one can point a finger.

People’s Party has won the majority in the local body elections, we should respect each other’s mandate, Senator Moola Bakhsh Chandio 

Karachi, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):No longer, Sirajul Haq’s political party is opposed to the People’s Party in the spirit, they will consider the conspiracy against the People’s Party as a war against democracy. The People’s Party has won the local elections, Sirajul Haq is expected to take a political decision.

Respect each other’s mandate in local body elections in Karachi. Imran Khan has started a backward journey politically, ready to come together to stop the path of apartheid. We respect the mandate of Jamaat-e-Islami and they should respect our mandate. Karachi should not be pushed into fire and blood again, we are enlightened people, and Karachi wants peace and tranquillity.

We have won from our constituencies in Sindh, Hyderabad and Karachi are raising their voices. Moola Bakhsh Chandeo said that everyone knows the past of political parties in Karachi, but we are ready to talk to everyone.

Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi gives Rs.10 million grant cheque to Talagang Bars 

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi gave a ten million rupees cheque to the delegations of Talagang district and tehsil bar associations who called on him at the CM Office. The CM observed that the people have been given their right by giving district status to Talagang. Talagang district is a part of the Rawalpindi division and will remain so, he added and stated that a district complex project was also being started in Talagang. I am an advocate of all deprived areas of Punjab including Talagang while district status would help to resolve problems at the grassroots, he concluded.

Hafiz Ammar Yasir praised Chief Minister Parvez Elahi as a benefactor to the people of Talagang and stated that they would always remember his generosity. The lawyers expressed their gratitude to the CM for elevating Multan Khurdh to a tehsil. Sardar Taimur and Malik Muzaffar thanked the chief minister for fulfilling the needs of the people. Malik Mumtaz Haider emphasized the significance of the Talagang-Sargodha-Khushab road project worth Rs.3.5 billion for the community.

Holding of Annual Sports Festival of Minhaj University is a welcome sign for the promotion of sports: Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi 

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that the holding of Annual Sports Festival of Minhaj University is a welcome sign for the promotion of sports; he said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony during his visit of Minhaj University on Wednesday.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, who was the chief guest at prize distribution ceremony, distributed medals and certificates among the winners of Minhaj University Annual Sports Festival 2023. He also congratulated Minhaj University administration for organizing the Annual Sports Festival 2023 quite successfully.

Vice-Chancellor Minhaj University, former Deputy Naval Chief Sajid Mehmood Shahzad, Director Public Relations Shahzad Rasool, former manager national cricket team Azhar Zaidi, SBP Chief Sports Consultant Hafeez Bhatti, deputy secretary information Abdul Hafeez, Incharge E-Library Asif Bilal, PRO SBP Abdul Rauf and a large number of athletes and sports personalities were also present on this occasion.

The athletes of 50 departments of Minhaj University participated in 25 game disciplines during the largely attended competitions of 9-day Annual Minhaj Sports Festival 2023 held from January 10 to 18, 2023.

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that the Olympic Dream Talent Hunt Programme of Sports Board Punjab is in progress across the province. “The trials of one million children are being taken in the Olympic Dream Talent Hunt Programme in all the schools of the province,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that we are quite hopeful that these players will win medals for the country in future. “Sports Board Punjab has established various sports academies where qualified coaches are imparting modern training to young talented players”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Board Punjab is tracing fresh talent in several games including cricket. “We have also signed various MoUs with different departments and organisations for the development of sports culture in the province,” he maintained.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also had a briefing meeting with President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and discussed promotion of sports culture. During his visit, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also visited various departments including the E-Library of Minhaj University.

BISP introducing new payment mechanism through Bank accounts, Shazia Marri

Karachi, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety/Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Ms. Shazia Marri has announced the introduction of a new payment mechanism of disbursement to BISP beneficiaries by giving them an option to receive money in the bank accounts of their choice. Initially, the mechanism will be introduced as pilot in some districts which will be gradually extended to whole of the country.

Federal Minister/Chairperson BISP was addressing a press conference at Karachi, today. Secretary BISP Mr. Yusuf Khan, DGs of NSER and Cash Transfer Mr. Naveed Akbar and Mr Noor Rehman Khan were also present in the press conference.

Ms. Shazia Marri said that since its inception, BISP has experienced various mechanisms, like, Money Order through Pakistan Post, Smart Debt Card, Mobile Phone Banking and currently using the Bio-metric Verification System (BVS). She added that current payment system has limited opportunities for beneficiaries under which they save their money, also there were complaints of deductions by Pause Agents.

She said that in order to make the payment system more beneficiary centric, BISP had series of meetings with the State Bank and other commercial banks, and as a result of last 3-4 months exercise, BISP is now launching a pilot project of a new payment system. She said that this will empower these women, also that these women will receive their funds without standing in queues, and in a dignified manner, and at the same time this will help to maintain transparency.

Chairperson BISP further informed that BISP is launching Dynamic Registry Survery soon to assess the socio-economic status of households on real basis. She said that new Dynamic Registry data will be shock responsive and if any change occurred in the socio economic situation of household, will be recorded on real time basis.

She said that the Dynamic Registry desks have been established all across the country to process the new survey of the households. While commenting on the news of Public Accounts Committee, Federal Minister said, “The procedure of PAC is necessary and crucial for maintain transparency in the system and dispelled the impression that BISP has extended benefits to any government servant by committing any fraud or illegal practice.

She criticized the previous government on excluding 820,000 beneficiaries by introducing filters without any research and giving the right of appeal to the excluded beneficiaries. Ms. Marri disclosed that out of 140,000 government employees, 60% were from grade 1 to 5 having average salary of around Rs13000. She said that these beneficiaries were not given the right to appeal and further cleared that there was no policy in the past to bar government servants from receiving grants from BISP, especially if they were low paid government employees.

Ms. Shazia Marri reiterated that under BISP Taleemi Wazaif Programme 8.1 million children have been enrolled and 364,000 pregnant women and their children of under 2 years age are getting benefits from the BISP’s Nashonuma Programme. She said that BISP has developed a sense of awareness among the people through its various initiatives.

She further said that during recent floods BISP has disbursed Rs. 70 billion among 2.8 flood affected families through its unique database across the country, and thanked the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and International Community for their continues support to people in these testing times.
