Youth must trust themselves to move forward: Punjab University Vice Chancellor 

Lahore, January 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi has said that in order to move forward, the youth must free their thinking from slavery and rely on their own abilities instead of others. He was addressing the convocation organized by Punjab University Institute of Administrative Sciences. On this occasion, Director Institute of Administrative Sciences Prof Dr Yaamina Salman, Prof Dr Kashif Rathore, faculty members, students and their parents were present. Dr Asghar Zaidi congratulated the students, their parents and teachers who graduated from the best institute of PU.

Addressing the young students, he said that their shoulders also have the burden of the unfulfilled responsibilities of their elders for which they have to work hard and show dedication in the practical field to serve the country and the people. He said that the job of teachers is not only to give degrees but to develop the skills of students according to market needs. Dr Yaamina Salman said that the graduates of PU IAS were serving the nation at all levels. She highlighted the performance of the institution and said that steps were being taken to promote the research culture.

She said that the students are being given education according to the modern curriculum and the policies of the Higher Education Commission. In the ceremony, degrees and medals were distributed among 310 students of session 2019.

Secretary General Muslim World League Hosts President UMT 

Lahore, January 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):President Ibrahim Hasan Murad met His Excellency Shaykh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al Issa on the special invitation at the Muslim World League headquarters in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the visit, Mr. Ibrahim Murad discussed areas of mutual cooperation with H.E. to increase global harmony via interfaith dialogue based on Abrahamic religions.

H.E. Shaykh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al Issa exchanged views on topics of common interest, including leveraging the Charter of Makkah in furthering educational objectives at the university. Mr. Murad and Secretary General shared views on future collaboration and how the Pakistan’s Ranked 1st private sector university UMT can offer its expertise to facilitate and assist the cause of global harmony.

President UMT Ibrahim Murad highlighted the importance of quality education and its role in shaping the future of coming generations and stressed that universities should work towards enlightening the minds of our youth. The two discussed ways to create better opportunities for youth engagement, in order to provide them with a platform for innovative and constructive dialogue.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will continue sharing long-standing fraternal relations and mutual support besides remaining committed to engaging in meaningful dialogue and collaboration to build a better, brighter and more united tomorrow. CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi chaired a consultative meeting in which legal and constitutional matters along with name of caretaker chief minister was reviewed 

Lahore, January 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi presided over a high-level meeting at CM office in which legal and constitutional aspects were reviewed after giving advice on the dissolution of Punjab Assembly. The name of Caretaker Chief Minister was also reviewed during the meeting. CM stated that he duly fulfilled the promise which was made with Chairman PTI Imran Khan adding that with whom we stand with then we support him with our heart and soul. CM maintained that we welcomed the call of Imran Khan and will continue to support him in future as well.

CM underscored that he performed his duties according to the law and constitution. CM apprised that the caretaker set up will be constituted according to the constitution and with due consultation after the dissolution of Punjab Assembly. CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi chairs 9th provincial cabinet meeting at CMO 

Lahore, January 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi presided over the 9th Provincial Cabinet meeting at CM office today. CM while addressing the provincial cabinet meeting highlighted that the Punjab government has set a record to utilize development budget worth rupees 273 billion in a short span of five months. Rupees 273 billion were being utilized under the Annual Development Programme till 12th January 2023 and CM Parvez Elahi highly appreciated Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal, Chairman P and D Wasif Khursheed and his team on behalf of the Punjab Cabinet. CM directed Chief Secretary and Chairman P and D to complete the under completion development projects within the stipulated period of time adding that continuity of ongoing development programmes should continue.

CM directed that Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners should not let the pace of work get affected on the ongoing development programmes. The public money is being spent on public welfare projects and their well-being. The judiciary has given its verdict in favour of the completion of ongoing projects. The Punjab Cabinet accorded a formal approval to grant 21 thousand metric tonnes wheat to Balochistan. CM underscored that the Punjab government is providing wheat to their Balochistan brothers by sacrificing its share in order to promote provincial harmony. CM said that our intentions are noble and right from the outset and Allah Almighty has always granted positive fruits owing to keeping pure intentions. We have tried to the utmost to provide maximum relief to the common man.

We are moving forward by taking along the thinking of Imran Khan. Imran Khan is our Quaid and an honest leader. CM stated that he tried his level best to resolve the problem of one whom he listened or came to know. CM thanked the Cabinet, Punjab Assembly, police, administration and media team. The Punjab Cabinet granted a conditional approval to accord Mianwali the status of a division and the Mianwali division will comprise district Mianwali and district Bhakkar. Mianwali will formally be granted the status of a division after the completion of delimitation process of union councils. A conditional approval was granted to make Multan Khurd a tehsil of Talagang.

A conditional approval was granted to accord a district status to Jampur along with granting conditional approval to make Dajjal and Muhammad Pur as new tehsils of Jampur during the meeting. The Cabinet paid rich tributes to the efforts and services of late MNA Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari for making Jampur a district. After the completion of delimitation work of the union councils Jampur will be granted the formal status of a district along with granting Dajjal, Muhammad Pur and Multan Khurd the formal status of a tehsil. Approval was granted to link 36 km long road from Mianwali to DaudKhel with the CPEC interchange. Approval was granted to link 33 km long Lakki Thamey Wali road with the CPEC interchange.

Approval was granted to pardon the sentence of minority prisoners on completing their religious education. A principle approval was granted to pardon the sentence of prisoners on completing TEVTA courses. Approval was given for the recruitment of approved 2500/ Jail Wardens. Approval was granted to extend contract of the staff members of Punjab Thalassemia and Genetic Disorder along with Prevention and Research Institute. Approval was granted for the issuance of funds to transfer official residences in GOR on solar energy. Approval was also given for the issuance of funds to transfer THe Lahore High Court building on solar energy. Approval was granted on the decision to install a lift for the petitioners and elderly lawyers in LHC.

Approval was granted to establish new court rooms in Faisalabad. Approval was given to grant 100 percent Special Allowance for the officers and staff members of Prosecution department and Directorate General Public Relations. Approval was granted for the recruitment of Assistant Food Controller, Food Inspector Food Supervisors in the Food department. Approval was given for grant in aid for the Supreme Court Bar Association, and for Sheikupura, Talagang and other Bar Associations. Approval was granted to appoint Managing director of Punjab Safe Cities Authority. Approval was granted to formulate rules and regulations for the appointment of Vice Chancellor of Pir Mehar Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and for the Research Committee.

The Chief Minister highly appreciated full cooperation and support of the Chief Secretary, IG Police, all Secretaries, Commissioners, RPOs and district administration. CM thanked the Cabinet members on the establishment of Khatamun Nabiyeen University. The Punjab Cabinet paid glowing tributes to CM Parvez Elahi on account of rendering services for public welfare. The Punjab Cabinet duly acknowledged and eulogised CM Parvez Elahi for always working for the welfare and well-being of the common man. The Cabinet members lauded CM Parvez Elahi for continuously standing with Imran Khan like a solid rock. Special prayer was offered for the integrity and stability of the country and nation.

Senior Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Provincial Ministers, Advisers, Special Assistants, Chief Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal and senior officials attended the meeting. Provincial Ministers Raja Basharat, Murad Ras, Latif Nazar, Doctor Afzal and others attended the meeting via video link.

Come out in large numbers to exercise your right to vote in the local elections on January 15 and change the fate of your cities: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari 

Karachi, January 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealed to the people of Karachi and Hyderabad divisions to exercise their right to vote in the local body elections on January 15. Get out of the houses in large numbers and change the fate of your cities. According to a statement issued by Media Cell Bilawal Hawass, in a telephonic conversation with various news channels, the PPP Chairman said that Murtaza Wahab’s performance as an administrator for a few months has proved that if given the opportunity, Pakistan People’s The party will perform better than other parties.

He said that for the first time in history, the mayor of Hyderabad will be a Jayala, while in Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Tando Al-Hiyar, Sajawal, Thatta and Dadu, Teer will also win. He further said that I wish that the incoming mayor of Karachi is Jayala, but with 100% certainty I say that the mayor of Karachi will be from PDM. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Pakistan People’s Party was waiting for a long time for the completion of the municipal election process. He said that the municipal elections were postponed not once but four times, which also increased the expenses of the candidates.

He said that the first phase of the local body elections was completed several months ago, but due to the non-completion of the second phase, the candidates elected during the first phase could not be sworn in. He added that if the local government system was functional, the elected representatives would have helped us in flood relief work. In response to a question about MQM, the foreign minister said that he hoped that MQM would not take any non-political decision and that they would participate fully in the local elections to be held tomorrow.

He said that tough statements during the election campaign are a part of politics, but there is hope in MQM Karachi and will decide for the betterment of Hyderabad. Pakistan People’s Party is constantly in touch with MQM. He further said that the federal government is confident about its numbers and will manage any kind of situation. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Pakistan People’s Party believes that now we should move beyond religious and linguistic politics and after the election we should all work together for development. He said that I want no area and part of Karachi to be out of our alliance.

He further said that this is happening for the first time that the local bodies, the provincial government and the federal government will be on the same page regarding development. In response to another question, the PPP Chairman said that there are objections from all political parties regarding constituencies, Pakistan People’s Party has raised the most objections and despite all these objections, we are participating in the election.

President Zardari and Chairman Bilawal condemn terror attack on security personnel in Peshawar 

Karachi, January 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):Former President of Pakistan and President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians, Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned the terror attack on police personnel in Peshawar. President Zardari expressed deep regret over the martyrdom of police personnel. The increase in incidents of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a matter of concern, Asif Ali Zardari said.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has left the people at the mercy of terrorists. Attacks on police and security forces are equivalent to war with the state. The federal government should bring the terrorists, their patrons and facilitators to a terrible end. By mobilizing the National Action Plan terrorists should be completely wiped out. Asif Ali Zardari expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred policemen.

Chairman FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also condemned the attack on the police station in Peshawar. Those who attack police and security forces are unforgivable, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said. Terrorists and their mentors will be brought to justice, Chairman Bilawal resolved. Those who attack police and security forces are enemies of the country and nation. FM Bilawal expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of martyred police personnel.

President Zardari and Chairman Bilawal prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed souls and strength and fortitude to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
