Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi distributes cash prizes among Pakistan pentathlon athletes for winning 8 medals in International Pentathlon Championships in Egypt and Kirghizstan

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi distributed cash prizes among medal winning athletes of Pakistan pentathlon team that demonstrated glorious performance and clinched 8 medals in recently-held International Pentathlon Championships in Egypt and Kirghizstan.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi was the chief guest at the impressive prize distribution ceremony held at National Hockey Stadium under the auspices of Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation on Tuesday. Secretary Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF) Zahoor Ahmed and other officials were also present on this occasion.

As many as seven countries participated in International Islamic Pentathlon Championship in Egypt where Pakistan athletes captured three silver and two bronze medals. After this event, national pentathlon team featured in 6-Nation International Pentathlon Championship in Kirghizstan in which national players bagged one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

M Munir Ahmed was given a cash prize of Rs 15,000 for winning gold medal while three athletes Sharjeel Zafar, Asad Ali and Naeem Ahmed Zafar were given cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each for winning silver medals while Salman Ahmed, M Talha, Mohsin Razzaq and Kamran Babar got Rs 8,000 each for winning bronze medals in Pentathlon Championships.

Five officials of the national pentathlon team – Syed M Ali Shah, Syed Mubasher Iqbal Shah, Mehr M Saqlain, Abdul Hannan and Tariq Ahmed Rashid were given Rs 10,000 each for their key role in medal-winning performance of national pentathlon team.

The other participating players – Sarfraz Ahmed, Zeeshan Zafar, Rana Asrar Ahmed, Zeeshan Ahmed, Sadeed Ahmed, Rana Ahsan Kamal, Rana Waqas Ahmed, Farhan Butt, Ali Hamza, Shahzad Anwer, Hashir Ahmed and Hassan Noman Ghani – were also given Rs 5,000 each.

Addressing the ceremony, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi congratulated Pakistan pentathlon team on winning eight medals in two International Pentathlon Championships. “National team demonstrated wonderful performance in all departments of the game. We are fully encouraging and supporting the athletes who are winning medals for the country in any international sports discipline,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said pentathlon is a new game and it is getting rapid acceptance among the young generation of the province. “The medal winning performance of the national team will definitely prove to be a great inspiration for our talented youth,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi inaugurates PFF Club Registration Mobile Unit under Pakistan Football Connect Programme at a colourful ceremony

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi inaugurated Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Club Registration Mobile Unit under Pakistan Football Connect Programme at a colourful ceremony at PFF head office on Monday. Members of AFC delegation, FIFA-nominated Normalization Committee (NC) Chairman Haroon Malik, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan and other officials were also present on this occasion.

Talking to media, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that PFF’s Club Registration Mobile Unit will visit throughout the country to trace fresh talented football players. “Football is world’s most popular game and definitely the launching of Club Registration Mobile Unit is a wonderful effort to find young potential football players from across the country,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi further said that football has also been included in the country’s biggest talent hunt programme and annual calendar of Sports Board Punjab. “Sports Board Punjab is also working on setting up a Football Academy to train and groom budding football players. We will also work together with Pakistan Football Federation for the promotion of football in the province”.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Talent Hunt Programme Olympic Dream is the biggest Talent Hunt Programme in the history of Punjab. “We have set a target to register 10 lakh children of Punjab in this grand programme. The trials of Under 16 boys and girls from different schools will be completed at the division level by January 31,” he added.

Earlier, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi had a meeting with FIFA-nominated Normalization Committee (NC) Chairman Haroon Malik at PFF Office. Both the dignitaries discussed the promotion of sports, particularly football among the younger generation during their meeting. They also agreed to put up combined efforts to unearth fresh football talent.

32-member delegation from Balochistan Youth Affairs Department visit several important and historical places of provincial metropolis 

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab arranged a visit to several important and historical places of the provincial metropolis for the 32-member delegation from Balochistan Youth Affairs Department on Friday. The Balochistan delegation took a round of provincial capital on a double decker tourist bus for sightseeing besides visiting historical and attractive places like Shahi Qila, Badshahi Masjid, Greater Iqbal Park, Wagah Border, Bargad office, Govt College University and Punjab Food Authority office.

It may be noted here that Balochistan delegation which includes 10 females and 21 students from different colleges and universities is on a 4-day visit to the provincial metropolis under the leadership of Director Youth Affairs Department Balochistan Ejaz Ali on the invitation of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab under Youth Exchange Programme.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, in a statement on Friday that the Balochistan students got valuable awareness about the history of Punjab during their Lahore trip. “We are promoting national unity and solidarity through the Youth Exchange Programme,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that the Youth Exchange Programme is playing an important role in highlighting the history and culture of all the provinces. “We are also organising the National Youth Summit in February in which the youth of all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will participate,” he informed.

32-member delegation from Balochistan Youth Affairs Department call on Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood 

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):The 32-member delegation from Balochistan Youth Affairs Department had an interactive meeting with Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan and other officials were also present on this occasion. All the male and female members of Balochistan delegation introduced themselves to Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood.

It may be noted here that Balochistan delegation which also includes seven male and female national level karate, cricket and wushu players and 21 students from different colleges and universities is on a 4-day visit of provincial metropolis on the invitation of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab under Youth Exchange Programme.

Talking to guest delegation, Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood welcomed the guest delegation and said that Balochistan youth are very talented. “The basic purpose of visit of Balochistan students under Youth Exchange Programme is to bring youth of the country at one platform. Our country has been blessed with plenty of talent. We just need to polish this valuable potential,” he added.

Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood informed that Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab is organizing a National Youth Summit in February to bring together the youth of the country. “The youth of the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will participate in the 3-day National Youth Summit where they will share their valuable ideas and skills”.

Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood further said that Punjab will continue to play a role of elder brother to all other provinces. “We want to extend every kind of cooperation and assistance to all provinces practically. We are formulating a concrete policy for youth so that their useful ideas could be given material shape”.

Director General Sports Punjab M Tariq Qureshi on this occasion said that the guest delegation is being provide complete awareness about history of Lahore and other achievements during their trip. “The visit of Balochistan students under Youth Exchange Programme will help a lot in promoting national solidarity and brotherhood among the people of both provinces”.

Director General Sports Punjab M Tariq Qureshi asked the guest delegation to prepare themselves fully for the participation in National Youth Summit. “Around 250 talented youth from across the country will participate in the National Youth Summit. It will be a useful platform for youth from all the country to exhibit their potential and skills”.

All the male and female members of Balochistan delegation expressed their views and asked different questions in the meeting. They also thanked Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood and Director General Sports Punjab M Tariq Qureshi for making excellent arrangements for their 4-day visit.

Later, Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood distributed certificates among all the male and female members of Balochistan delegation. Director Youth Affairs Balochistan Ejaz Ali also presented traditional caps of Balochistan to Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Taimoor Masood, Director General Sports Punjab M Tariq Qureshi, Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan and PRO SBP Abdul Rauf Roofi. The guest delegation also visited Government College University and Punjab Food Authority office on Thursday.

Earlier, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab also organized an impressive ceremony in honour of Balochistan delegation on Wednesday night. Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Musarrat Jabeen, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan and other officials also attended the function.

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):A 32-member delegation including 10 females from Balochistan arrived in Nishtar Park Sports Complex under Youth Exchange Programme under the leadership of Director Youth Affairs Balochistan Ejaz Ali on Wednesday.

Seven male and female national level karate, cricket and wushu players and 21 students from different colleges and universities were also part of Balochistan delegation which is on a 4-day visit of provincial metropolis on the invitation of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab.

The Balochistan delegation also called on Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Musarrat Jabeen at Punjab Stadium. Talking to delegation Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Musarrat Jabeen said that the visit of Balochistan delegation under Youth Exchange Programme is definitely a useful activity.

“This kind of trips played a key role in giving valuable exposure to young boys and girls of the country and this practice should continue in future”.

Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Musarrat Jabeen further said that national solidarity will grow among the youth of different province through these Youth Exchange Programmes. “There is no doubt that youth is an asset of the country and Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab is taking effective measures for the training and grooming of young boys and girls in multiple fields,” she added.

The members of Balochistan delegation visited different departments and sports facilities in Nishtar Park Sports Complex such as Punjab Stadium, Tennis Stadium, State-of-the-Art Tennis Courts, Punjab International Swimming Complex, NPSC Gymnasium Hall and National Hockey Stadium, E-Library, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA).

Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan gave thorough briefing about different departments and sports facilities of Youth Affairs and Sports Department. The documentaries of Punjab Games, Youth Programmes and other achievements were also shown to guest delegation at National Hockey Stadium.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood performs ground-breaking ceremony of state of the art sports projects Body Contact Sports Center, Multipurpose Training Station and Table Tennis Arena at Nishtar Park Sports Complex

Lahore, January 18, 2023 (PPI-OT):Expanding the network of elite sports facilities, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood laid the foundation stone of three more sports facilities at Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Thursday.

After laying the foundation stone of the country’s first ever Hockey High Performance Center on January 4, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood performed the ground-breaking ceremony of Body Contact Sports Center, Multipurpose Training Station and Table Tennis Arena at different places of Nishtar Park Sports Complex.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, President Punjab Table Tennis Association Irfan Ullah Khan and other officials were also present on this occasion. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi gave a thorough briefing to Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood about different features of the state of the art sports projects.

Talking on this occasion, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood said that Body Contact Sports Center will be completed with the cost of Rs 62.687 million, Multipurpose Training Station with Rs 46.538 million and Table Tennis Arena will be constructed with the budget of Rs 50.000 million.

“All these sports facilities will be equipped with all modern amenities and we are quite upbeat that these sports facilities will help a lot in further nurturing the sports culture in Punjab province,” he added.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood informed that after the completion of Body Contact Sports Center, we will be able to organize events of all body contact sports such as martial arts, taekwondo and boxing etc. in a befitting manner.

“Similarly, all national and international level table tennis competitions could be organized at Table Tennis Arena after its completion whereas our weightlifting and powerlifting athletes could get international standard training at Multipurpose Training Station,” he stated.
