Memorandum of Understanding signed between IUB and SDG Academy 

Bahawalpur, July 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur participated in 3 day conference on SDGs and Sustainable Tourism arranged by SDGs Academy (Pvt.) Ltd in Swat, KPK. The IUB delegation was led by Director Career Counseling and Placement Center, Shahid Durrani with active representation of Directorate of Sustainable Tourism (DoST), Salman Qureshi and faculty members of Department of Tourism including Dr. Hameed Murtaza and Kalsoom Akhtar. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is global agenda being carried out by all countries of the World under United Nation’s umbrella with 17 goals set to achieve till 2030 in order to make the World a peaceful and better place to live.

During opening session of the conference, MoU was also signed between IUB and SDGs Academy. Shahid Durrani, Director Career Counseling and Placement Center signed the MoU on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, IUB. The MoU will benefit both organizations on their efforts with regards to SDGs in terms of knowledge sharing, consultation and exchange of information, national/international trainings and certification programs and establishment of SDGs excellence labs. The conference had several sessions of keynote talks, intellectual and panel discussions and informal social interactions around the broader agenda for learning and knowledge sharing.

In his keynote talk, Director Career Counseling and Placement Center, Shahid Durrani talked about significance of conference, recent growth of IUB and IUB’s initiatives on SDGs and Tourism and student’s career counseling. All the participants, experts, dignitaries, panelists and students applauded the rapid growth of IUB in recent years and showed great interest in learning from experiences. The delegation very well presented and showcased the brand name of IUB as hub of winter tourism and it’s out of box initiatives on sustainable tourism and growth. The members of delegation participated in several keynote talks, panel discussions, moderating and notes taking activities.

Mr. Salman Qureshi, Director DoST, in a panel discussion highlighted role of IUB in promoting tourism, sustainable initiatives and impact on society. Dr. Hameed Murtaza, Assistant Professor and Kalsoom Akhtar, Lecture while representing department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (DTHM) moderated the sessions and interacted with experts for mutual learning and development. Director of Iqra National University (INU) Swat interacted with IUB delegation and showed great interest in learning from IUB experiences of establishing tourism department and related initiatives. Similarly, the University of Swat too expressed their interest in collaboration with IUB and future opportunities of cooperation and MoU.

Meeting of Engr. Prof Dr Athar Mahboob with Federal Minister of Industries and Production Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mehmood

Bahawalpur, July 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob called on Federal Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mahmood. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor briefed the Federal Minister about the teaching and research achievements of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He said that in terms of number of students and teachers, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is one of the largest universities in the country. Students from Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar districts as well as South Punjab and Sindh Balochistan are also benefiting from the university.

He also apprised the Federal Minister about the expansion of Rahim Yar Khan Campus, establishment of new departments and other facilities. The campus is providing graduate and postgraduate level educational facilities to thousands of students in Rahim Yar Khan District. The Federal Minister appreciated the extraordinary achievements of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in various fields.

On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor also described the Federal Minister of the steps taken to enhance the academic and industrial ties with the Chamber of Commerce of Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and other chambers of commerce of the country. This is being done so that industrial activities can benefit from the research activities taking place in the university and internship and placement opportunities can be provided to the students.

PU IAP congratulates Mr. Ghulam Ishaq for successful Public Defense of his PhD dissertation 

Lahore, July 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Faculty members and students of Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab congratulates Mr. Ghulam Ishaq for successful Public Defense of his PhD dissertation entitled “Psychosocial Determinants of Treatment Adherence in Patients with End Stage Renal Disease” completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, Director Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab.

PPP urges ECP to extend last date for filling appeals against delimitations

Islamabad, July 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Peoples Party has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to extend the last date by a few days for filing appeals against the latest delimitations of provincial and National Assembly constituencies by the Election Commission.

Secretary General PPPP in a statement said that a number of appellants visited the offices of provincial election commissioners to file appeals on the last day on June 30 but were told to file appeals in Islamabad and in person. Their appeals along with supporting documents are ready but because of logistic issues could not travel to Islamabad on the last day at short notice for filing appeals. He said that an extension by a few days in the last date will enable all the appellants file their appeals against delimitations before the ECP in Islamabad.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri grieved over the passing of Allama Ghulam Haider Khadmi 

Lahore, July 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has expressed his strong sense of grief and sorrow on the death of Shaykh-ul-Hadith Allama Ghulam Haider Khadmi, renowned religious scholar and former senior office-holder of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council.

In his condolence message, Shaykh-ul-Islam lauded the religious services of late Allama Ghulam Haider Khadmi and said that he was a true scholar who dedicated his life in serving the cause of religion. He said that he was an important member of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council and served MQI selflessly. He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace and give patience and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the loss.

Senior MQI leaders Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Engineer Muhammad Rafique Najam, Allama Imdadullah Qadri, Allama Mir Asif Akbar, Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees, Allama Rana Nafees Hussain Qadri and others also expressed their heartfelt condolences over the passing of Allama Ghulam Haider Khadmi. They said that Allama sahib rendered dedicated service for Pakistan, Islam and humanity till the last breath of his life. They said that he was a committed and devoted worker of MQI who advanced the mission of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. They prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace.

Islamabad, July 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Heartiest congratulations from the Federal Minister Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari and DG PSB Col. (Retd.) Muhammad Asif Zaman to nation and Pakistani football players that the Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on 29th June 2022 to lift the suspension that was imposed on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) in April, 2021 due to undue third-party interference.

Rounds of talks between the Pakistan Sports Board and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination with officials of the Normalization Committee and different groups eventually saw the Normalization Committee return to the PFF headquarters after handing over six to eight-month roadmap to hold the elections.

The Director General PSB Col (Retd.) Muhammad Asif Zaman also said, the side-lines of the Trophy Tour event for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Lahore in June. The Ministry of IPC and PSB wish that the Normalization Committee to complete the election process in that timeframe so that the game resume.
