Islamabad, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, inflation (48%) is the most commonly cited problem that businesses in Pakistan would like the government to solve, followed by problems caused by the devaluation of the Pakistani Rupee.

A nationally representative sample of businesses across Pakistan was asked the following question, “Which problems affecting your business considerably would you want the government to solve?” In response to this question, 2% said non-availability of international payment services like PayPal, 16% said give some relief to business/financial support/provide interest-free loans, 48% said inflation, 14% said devaluation of Pakistani currency/dollar rates, 13% said inconsistency of government policy/uncooperative govt./make good policies, 6% said coronavirus + lockdown, 3% said improve export policies, 6% said corruption while 3% said political instability. 17% businesses said others and 7% said no issues.

The Hub collates information on COVID-19 vaccines from trustworthy sources, including explainers, summaries of the latest research, expert comments, and online media briefings.

The project is a combined effort, with contributions from Science Media Centres and other not-for-profit organisations in Australia, the UK, Germany, Taiwan, Africa, Canada, the US, Spain and New Zealand. A full list of contributing organisations is available on the hub.

Journalists can also use the hub to sign up to a regular alert and use the network to ask questions about vaccines in different countries or to ask for help with a story.

This collaboration was made possible through a grant from the Google News Initiative. All organisations involved are independent and are focused on helping journalists and factcheckers find accurate information and credible experts on COVID-19 vaccines.

Arts and Literary Club Holds Open Mic Naat Event 

Islamabad, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):Capital Arts and Literacy club organized an open mic event (Naat/Speech) on the topic “The miracles of obeying the Prophet (SAW)”. The event was held on November 11, 2021 in Auditorium A-2. Ms. Quratulain Jalil, Society patron for Arts and Literacy club graced the event as the chief guest.

Students actively participated to express their love and gratitude for the beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam. At the end, Ms. Quratulain Jalil appreciated the student participants for their active involvement in the event. The speakers were awarded with digital certificates.

National Open Javelin Throw competition on 29th November 2021 at the Punjab Stadium Lahore

Lahore, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Athletics Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with “NAYZA” a sports accessories and clothing manufacturer is organizing the first National Open Javelin Throw competition on 29th November 2021 at the Punjab Stadium Lahore. After the phenomenal success of Pakistani Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem at the Tokyo Olympics it was decided to provide an opportunity for the young and talented Javelin throwers of the country so they can display their talents.

Young and up-coming Javelin throwers from all affiliated units of Athletics Federation of Pakistan will participate in this one-day Event. The winners of this competition will be awarded handsome cash prizes and certificates. AFP is striving hard to provide frequent competitions and other Athletics activities for athletes and the rest of the Athletics community of Pakistan. AFP will select a number of gifted Javelin throwers for further grooming and training.

Department of Biological Sciences celebrates World Science Day for Peace and Development 

Islamabad, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Department of Biological Sciences (female campus) of the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS) celebrated the “World Science Day for Peace and Development 2021” at Hazrat Maryam Block. At this occasion, various models to demonstrate diversity among different animal groups from simple to complex prepared by the students were displayed.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences inaugurated the exhibition and visited the display of each group. The activity was organized by Dr. Fareeha Ambreen, Assistant Professor organized the exhibition.

Students showed keen interest in preparation of models those they prepared by recycling of used material and maintained the cost from Rs. 150-200 for each model. Each group of student was consisted of five members. Inaugurating the activity, Dr. Irfan appreciated the efforts of the department to mark the day. He said students deserve special encouragement as they have showcased remarkable skills by setting an example of environment friendly activity.

Majority supports Single National Curriculum at GCU Youth Referendum 

Lahore, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Debating Society of Government College University Lahore has conducted a Youth Referendum on Single National Curriculum among the participants of the first All Pakistan Summit of Student Societies 2021. Students from more than 32 universities participated in the summit. According to the results, about 60 percent of the country’s youth believes that the Single National Curriculum would help reduce the socio-economic disparities of the education system.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi said the main objective of the was to gauge the student body’s public opinion about the newly introduced Single National Curriculum (SNC). “The survey garnered an amazing response; 442 votes were received and analyzed in order to make up the results,” he said. The survey included agendas which talked about various aspects of the SNC and how it would impact the education system of the country.

When asked about whether the SNC would help reduce the socio-economic disparities of the education system. 59.95% of the voters said yes, 34.61% said no while 5.42% were undecided in their decision. In the second agenda, it was inquired if the voters believed that the SNC would help Pakistan’s education system compete with the international standards of education. 44.79% said attested yes, 45.47% said no and 9.50% remained undecided.

The third agenda focused on the representation of minorities and women and if the representation co-opted in SNC was culturally appropriate. 54.07% said yes, 35.06% said no while 10.85% were unsure. The fourth agenda centered on National Unity. It inquired if the voters believed national unity would increase owing to SNC. 63.10% said yes, 28.95% said no, and 7.91% remained unsure.

The fifth agenda tackled with the structural issues and whether they could be solved with SNC. 43.43% voters said yes, 46.60% said no and 9.95% said they were not sure. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the hard work of students Eza Qamar, Hamza Jaleel, Nouman Ehsan, Areesha Ehsan and Ahtasham Chattha who worked tirelessly to make this referendum possible. These people designed the ballot papers, mobilized the electorate, counted the votes and curated the results with unwavering efficiency and dedication.

The executive committee of also expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor for supporting them conduct this impactful referendum, helping us gather the opinion of our youth, and participated in it himself. “We are extremely thankful everyone who came to vote and made this endeavour a thumping success,” he said.
