University of Haripur Enhances Biowaste Management with ABM’s Incinerator Donation

Haripur, The University of Haripur hosted a pivotal meeting on May 2, 2024, focusing on the enhancement of biowaste management through a significant donation from the Association of Biorisk Management (ABM). The donated incinerator is set to improve the disposal processes not only at the university but potentially across local healthcare settings.

According to The University of Haripur, the meeting was attended by key figures including the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rahman, Dr. Asghar Khan, Chief Executive of ABM, and representatives from the Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA). The discussions aimed at exploring ways to extend the use of the new incinerator to benefit the broader community.

The university leadership, including Dr. Azizullah, the Convener of the Institutional Biosafety Committee, and Dr. Muhammad Jahangir, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization, expressed their gratitude for the collaboration between the university, ABM, and PBSA. They acknowledged the critical role of such partnerships in advancing biowaste management capabilities, highlighting the incinerator’s role in ensuring safer waste disposal practices.
