Lahore, The Department of Product and Industrial Design at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, conducted a guest lecture focusing on the ‘Design of Built Environments for Differently Abled People’. The lecture aligns with the initiative by the Governor Secretariat to provide suitable infrastructure, ramps, and wheelchairs in public buildings for differently-abled individuals.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the session offered an in-depth exploration of understanding differently-abled individuals, relevant legislation and standards, and universal design principles. Dr. Raaeha Abidi, CEO of Abideez and Executive Committee Member (Education Nominee) of the PCATP, led the lecture, drawing from her expertise in product and industrial design, architecture, and urban design. The event was organized by the Chairperson Associate Professor Dr. Ing Atif Bilal Aslam and lecture organizer Ms. Asma Khalid, with the participation of MPID and final-year Product and Industrial Design students.
The university community expressed gratitude to Dr. Abidi for her contributions. The lecture is anticipated to be the first in a series of initiatives aiming to foster an inclusive built environment, accessible to all.
