Significant decline in support for Pakistani artists working in India since 2009: Gallup and Gilani Pakistan History Project

Islamabad, July 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):In a Gallup and Gilani Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 2009, a representative sample of adult men and women from across Pakistan was asked the following question “For the past some time, Pakistan and India have jointly produced movies and dramas. Some people are against Pakistani artists working in Indian films and dramas while others are in favour of it. Do you support or oppose the idea of Pakistani artists working in India?” In response to this question, 26% said yes, 44% said no, and 30% said indifferent.

Comparative Picture: This question was asked again in 2022 to allow a comparison to be made across the years. In response to this question in 2022, 15% said yes, 49% said no, 25% said indifferent and 11% didn’t know or gave no response.

Trend Analysis: One-quarter (26%) of Pakistanis were in favour of the notion of Pakistani artists working in India in 2009 while the figure decreased to 15% in 2022. This shows that there is a significant decline
in support for Pakistani artists working in India since 2009.

This press release has been made as part of the Gallup Pakistan History Project which aims to release historical empirical polling data to wider audiences. The objective is to sustain and encourage empirical decision-making in Pakistan.
