Islamabad, The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) celebrated International Women’s Day with a grand ceremony at its National Headquarters, focusing on the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”. The event was a tribute to the resilience and accomplishments of women, particularly in Pakistan, and underscored the importance of gender equality and empowerment.
According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the event was attended by a diverse group of participants from various sectors, including civil society, the legal and educational fields, humanitarian organizations, and the diplomatic corps. The PRCS Chairman praised the influential roles of Pakistani women in history and society, mentioning leaders like Fatima Jinnah, Nusrat Bhutto Sahiba, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
The ceremony included speeches and a panel discussion on the challenges women face, with significant insights from human rights activists. The PRCS’s commitment to gender diversity and women’s empowerment was a central theme, celebrated through the acknowledgment of women’s contributions across different spheres of society.
The participation of Dilsad Senol, Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, added international dimension to the event, highlighting global solidarity in the push for gender equality. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of mementos and certificates, honoring the achievements and efforts of women in various fields.
