Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina Visits International Islamic University in Islamabad

Islamabad, In a significant development aimed at bolstering educational ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pakistan, Dr. Husein ef Kavazovic, the Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). During his visit, he met with Professor Dr. Samina Malik, the Rector of IIUI, at the university’s new campus.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral educational relationships, particularly in Islamic studies, the training of Aima (Islamic leaders), Jurisprudence, and law. The Grand Mufti lauded IIUI for its contributions to the Muslim world, acknowledging the significant impact the university has had on scholars, bureaucrats, and researchers from Bosnia. He noted the similarity in objectives between IIUI and Bosnian universities’ faculties of Islamic studies and expressed his appreciation for the strong friendship ties between Bosnia and Pakistan. The Grand Mufti’s visit was further dignified by the presence of Emin Cohodarevic, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The discussions concluded with an agreement to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mutual cooperation in education and the exchange of experiences, aiming to materialize the enhanced bilateral ties.

During the visit, Rector Malik extended a warm welcome to the Grand Mufti and congratulated him on his forthcoming receipt of the Sitara e Quaid e Azam Award, to be conferred by the President of Pakistan on March 23rd. She highlighted the university’s services, vision, and future objectives, as well as the diverse faculties and international community within the university. In a gesture of goodwill, the Grand Mufti presented a rare manuscript of the Holy Quran to the university, while Rector Malik gifted a university souvenir to the Grand Mufti, symbolizing the strength and potential of this burgeoning educational partnership.
