Lahore, In commemoration of Pakistan Day, Dr. Jonathan S. Addleton, Rector of Forman Christian College, issued a message reflecting on the historical significance of the Lahore Resolution and its impact on the nation’s journey towards independence.
According to Forman Christian College, Dr. Addleton’s message marks the 84th anniversary of the 1940 Lahore Resolution, an event that played a pivotal role in setting Pakistan on the path to independence. He highlighted the Lahore Resolution’s place in history and the opportunity it presents to celebrate the remarkable journey from vision to reality, embodied in Pakistan’s national motto crafted by Muhammad Ali Jinnah: Iman, Ittihad, Nazm – Faith, Unity, Discipline.
The Rector underscored Forman Christian College’s intertwined history with Pakistan’s formation, noting that it was an alumnus of Forman, Mian Abdul Rashid, who became the first Chief Justice of Pakistan and raised the national flag in Gilgit, symbolizing the region’s inclusion in the new state. Dr. Addleton also reminded the community of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s message about the value of education, which he voiced during his visit to the Forman campus prior to independence.
