Nairobi, The Aga Khan University (AKU) announced that its Internal Audit Department (IAD) has been recognized as the top performer in a recent competition held by the Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya Chapter. The competition aimed to highlight exceptional internal audit functions across Kenya.
According to The Aga Khan University, the competition attracted 57 corporate institutions from both public and private sectors. AKU’s IAD won the award for the best Not-for-Profit Institution and also placed as the first runners-up in the Universities category. The evaluation by the Institute of Internal Auditors was based on adherence to global standards, innovation, agility, and effective management, with stringent criteria including a strong quality assurance improvement program and external assessments.
Moez Narsi, AKU’s Chief Internal Auditor, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating it reaffirms AKU’s commitment to transparency and professional integrity. These qualities are vital for maintaining trust and efficiency in its core areas of healthcare delivery and educational services. Narsi also acknowledged the support from the university’s Board, Board Audit Committee, Senior Leadership, Stephen Muriuki, Regional Director of Internal Audit for East Africa, and his team for their dedication and effort towards achieving this accolade.
