PRCS Launches Red Cross Red Crescent Week with Art Competition in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) inaugurated its Red Cross Red Crescent Week with a colorful Art and Painting Competition at the Citizen’s Club in F-9 Park, engaging schoolchildren from across Islamabad to promote creativity and humanitarian values among the youth. The event, held in collaboration with the Capital Development Administration, attracted a lively participation from students of both government and private schools, under the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive.”

According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the competition saw young participants express their artistic skills through various mediums, including color pencils, crayons, and watercolors. The involvement of students, teachers, PRCS staff, Movement Partners, and volunteers created an enthusiastic environment focused on fostering the humanitarian spirit.

Chairman PRCS, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Lagahri, delivered a message highlighting the significance of the week’s theme and the crucial role of volunteers and staff who have worked tirelessly on the frontlines of humanitarian efforts. He praised their dedication to alleviating suffering and saving lives, emphasizing that their efforts exemplify the core values of humanity. “Together, we can sustain the essence of humanity, fostering a world where compassion transcends boundaries and where every individual is esteemed and protected,” stated Chairman Lagahri.

Mr. Peter (Piwi) Ophoff, Head of IFRC Delegation in Pakistan, also praised the turnout and the initiative’s role in nurturing compassion and service towards society’s most vulnerable.

The celebration concluded with an awards ceremony, where shields and gift packs were distributed to the winners, celebrating their creativity and engagement in humanitarian values.

The PRCS has planned a series of events to continue the Red Cross Red Crescent Week celebrations through May 8th, reaffirming its commitment to humanitarian service and the betterment of global society.
