Islamabad, In a significant development for humanitarian collaboration in the Asia Pacific region, Mr. Yoann Davison, Operations Coordinator for the ICRC Asia Pacific Region, met with Chairman PRCS Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari at the PRCS National Headquarters. This meeting highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), focusing on enhancing various humanitarian programs and initiatives.
According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the discussions revolved around the PRCS’s crucial contributions to disaster response, especially during the 2022 monsoon floods, and their ongoing recovery efforts. Chairman Laghari detailed the society’s strategies for strengthening its humanitarian outreach and emphasized the need for deeper collaboration with the ICRC to promote programs such as National Society Development, Emergency Preparedness, and other key initiatives.
Mr. Yoann Davison expressed his appreciation for the PRCS’s efforts under Chairman Laghari’s leadership, affirming ICRC’s commitment to supporting these initiatives. He highlighted the importance of such partnerships in advancing humanitarian services and improving lives affected by crises.
Mr. Nicolas Lambert, Head of ICRC Delegation in Pakistan, also commented on the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with the PRCS is a cornerstone of our mission in Pakistan. Together, we’re stronger in our commitment to serve communities, providing vital aid and support in times of need.”
The meeting concluded with Chairman Laghari presenting a memento to Mr. Davison, symbolizing their continued partnership. Mr. Davison also toured the PRCS facilities, including the library, and left a message in the visitor’s book, marking his visit.
