SMIU Vice Chancellor Emphasizes Youth Engagement in Sports at Handball League Closing

Karachi, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), emphasized the importance of engaging youth in positive activities during his address at the closing ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Youth Sports League Handball (Men) for Sindh. The event was organized by SMIU in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan’s Regional Directorate of Sindh.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the event, held at SMIU on Monday, marked the culmination of a series of competitions designed to scout and develop handball talent across Sindh. Dr. Sahrai highlighted the league’s success in fostering sportsmanship and team spirit among participants from the five divisions of Sindh: Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, and Larkana. He noted that teams from Hyderabad and Karachi, which secured the top two places, would advance to a national championship scheduled in Peshawar.

The Vice Chancellor praised the efforts of the Higher Education Commission and SMIU’s Directorate of Students Affairs and Counselling for their roles in the league’s success. He announced that SMIU plans to form its own handball team, building on the university’s commitment to promoting sports and student-centered activities through its eight student societies.

The event concluded with the distribution of trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the winning teams, with Hyderabad taking first place. Dr. Sahrai also recognized the contributions of key organizers and supporters with shields, including sports anchor Mr. Yahiya Hussaini for his role in promoting the event.

The ceremony was attended by senior faculty and students of SMIU, reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to enriching student life through comprehensive educational and extracurricular programs.
