Karachi Community Honors Renowned Journalist Syed Haider Taqi at Condolence Reference

Karachi, The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted a condolence reference at Haseena Moin Hall to honor the late renowned journalist Syed Haider Taqi, attracting luminaries from journalism, politics, and the arts to celebrate his impactful life and career.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the event saw heartfelt tributes from a host of prominent figures, including Arts Council President Mohammad Ahmed Shah, senior journalists Mazhar Abbas and Sohail Warraich, and political leader Raza Haroon, among others. Attendees reflected on Taqi’s significant contributions to journalism and his unique ability to infuse humor and wisdom into his work and interactions.

President Shah recalled Taqi’s philosophical upbringing and his choice of a career path that prioritized respect and integrity over wealth a decision that defined his professional life. Shah’s address highlighted Taqi’s lasting influence on those around him, emphasizing that his life’s work was a beacon of ethical journalism.

Mazhar Abbas shared personal anecdotes about Taqi’s resilience in the face of professional challenges and his commitment to maintaining his brother’s legacy. Abbas stressed the importance of continuing to recognize and remember Taqi’s contributions to journalism.

Sohail Warraich, speaking via video link, described Taqi as a mentor and friend whose departure marked a personal loss for him and many others.
