Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator-General COMSTECH, recently chaired a meeting of Punjab Province based member universities of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE), which was followed by an Iftar dinner at Gymkhana Lahore.

Vice-Chancellors/Rectors and senior officials from the member universities, including UOL, attended the meeting. While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Choudhary thanked the Vice-Chancellors and Rectors for their continued support of COMSTECH and CCoE.

He said that CCoE is playing a vital role in the COMSTECH programs, and we have announced various fellowships for Yemeni, Lebanese, and Palestinian citizens. He briefly discussed future initiatives under the umbrella of CCoE.

On occasion, Vice-Chancellors and Rectors of member universities and heads of institutions said on occasion that they are ready for their role and that they will continue their support for COMSTECH and CCoE. Members of the COMSTECH team were also present at the meeting.

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Providing insights into Robotics and directing students pertaining to research and study in Germany, Dr. Francesco Maurelli (Professor, Jacobs University) gave a comprehensive lecture recently at the invitation of the CS and IT Department. Prof. Dr. Ibrar Hussain (Dean Faculty of IT) presided over the session as the chief guest. The session drew a large number of students and faculty from the Software Engineering, CS, and IT Departments.

Following the conclusion of his lecture, Dr. Maurelli met with the esteemed Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf. Furthermore, Dr. Maurelli expressed his delight at the students’ active participation in the session and stated his desire to establish long-term research, student exchange, and academic ties with the University of Lahore.

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Islamic Society at the University of Lahore (UOL) invited Dr. Muhammad Yasir (Deputy Chief Manager, National Space Agency and Da’ae of Islam) as a guest speaker to highlight the significance of the holy month of Ramadan.

Dr. Yasir shed light on the true spirit of fasting and its role in strengthening faith in Allah. The talk concluded with Molana Sahab and the patron, Sheikh Faran, distributing shields and certificates amongst the organizers, including the president, Ms. Misbah, and attendees.

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):The School of Architecture, The University of Lahore (UOL) staged a prize distribution ceremony for the UOL Relief Competition titled “The Privilege of Education” on April 14, 2022. Mr. Nasir Mahmood (Pro-Rector, Academics) and Ms. Farah Mahmood (Director, UOL Relief) were the chief guests at the event.

The competition was based on designing a roof painting for a school in Tattu. Students gave their best shots, and the top three paintings received monetary rewards. The teachers’ and students’ efforts were lauded by the authorities

Around 40 students from semester 5 to 8 of BS-Electronics and Electrical System, under the supervision of Mr. Muhammad Wajahat Hassan (Assistant Professor) and Engr. Muhammad Aamer (Assistant Professor), visited Tarbela Power House with the aim of making the learning experience more impactful.

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):On April 19, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between The University of Lahore (UOL) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Lahore section for the technical co-sponsorship of two international conferences: the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical, Control, and Telecommunication Engineering (ETECTE’22) and the International Conference on Advancements in Computational Sciences (ICACS’23), which are going to be held on December 2-4, 2022 and February 20–22, 2023, respectively. UOL, being the financial co-sponsor, and IEEE-Lahore section, being the technical co-sponsor, will substantially collaborate to orchestrate these prodigious international conferences at UOL.
