Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies organizes seminar

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) has organized a seminar on ‘India: the Fake Union and Enforced Empire’. On this occasion, Chairman Pakistan National Reform Movement Brig (r) Nadir Mir was the guest speaker while Director CSAS Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members and MPhil/PhD scholars were present. In his lecture, Brig (r) Nadir Mir said that India was a union of various states. He said that Pakistan and India came into being with unfair partition.

Since then, he said, India forcefully annexed the states of Kashmir and Junagadh. He said that due to Indian atrocities against Muslims and other religious groups the minorities feel insecure, segregated and persecuted. He said that it was keeping the artificial and enforced unity. He said that revocation of Article 370 and scrapping the special status of Kashmir reveals the same aspiration.

He said that the BJP-led Hindutva ideology was employed to tyrannize and oppress the people of Kashmir that exposed the real face of Indian democracy and constitutional secularism. Rising discontent among Indian ethnic and religious minorities, extreme polarization and several booming separatist movements proves that India was destined to break apart soon, he further added.

Declaring Gambat as Medical Capital of Pakistan, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

inaugurates three state of the art health facilities including bone marrow transplant unit, rapid response facility, cancer care and research centre at GIMS to provide free of cost treatment to people of Pakistan
Gambat, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party inaugurated the bone marrow transplant institute at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences, and expressed his joy over the advancement of Sindh’s healthcare sector. He also reiterated his vision of providing free healthcare to all parts of Pakistan.

At the inauguration event, Chairman PPP announced that the bone marrow transplant treatment at Gambat is now 100% free. He said that there is no hospital like the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences where free treatment for liver, kidney, bone marrow and cancer is provided. He stated that the citizens are suffering from several diseases such as thalassemia, and the bone marrow transplant will leave a great impact on the lives of people seeking treatment. He also said 100 % free cancer treatment, and world class facilities are offered at Gambat.

Chairman PPP further said that with the rise of car accidents, a rapid response emergency facility has also been launched. The aim is to open such centers in other cities as well so those suffering severe medical injuries from fires and accidents can be treated in the best possible way. “Gambat from today, is the medical capital of Pakistan,” said Chairman PPP.

“I challenge all the provincial governments of the country to build a hospital like Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences, where free treatment for liver, kidney, bone marrow and cancer is provided, “stated Chairman PPP. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari revealed that Sindh has broken the national record by providing 550 free liver transplants. Amongst these, 52% people were from Sindh, 29% were from Punjab, 15% were from Balochistan, and 3% were from KPK. He said that Punjab has a liver and kidney institute that performs transplants, but the number of people from Punjab that Gambat treated is more than the overall patients their hospital admitted.

“The vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was to improve the healthcare system of the nation, and save the lives of elders. This is our vision of Pakistan,” said Chairman PPP. “We want healthcare to be completely free so no one can say they couldn’t get treated due to lack of finances. To reach our goal, we have made large number of investments, especially for tertiary care hospitals.”

Chairman PPP said that when PPP had formed the government, the Waseela-e-sehat card was introduced to help the poverty ridden. When Mian Sahab came, he changed the name to PM Health Card, now PTI calls it the ‘Sehat Insaaf card’. “But you need a brain to even copy a bright idea,” said Chairman PPP. “The way they are running our card is wrong. We offered it to the poor – their card offers a subsidy of 5-6 lakh to private hospitals”.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated, “The budget of only three institutes set up by the Sindh government, Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences, SIUT and NICVD, is more than the budget of the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Card.”

He further said that the selected government can run the healthcare sector better if some of this money is given to the poor, and the rest is utilized in the budget of government hospitals. Their current health card is a theft of the health budget as this money will be given to private insurance companies.

“If you utilize your finances properly, you will also be able to make world class hospitals like Gambat,” said Chairman PPP. “Our vision is to bring free treatment to the homes of people. If we can provide free cancer, liver, and kidney transplant to Sindh, we can take this initiative to the rest of Pakistan too.”
