Bahawalpur, June 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur has said that Jamia Islamia has achieved the goal of self-sufficiency. Currently, the university is meeting 90% of its expenses from its own resources and resources. The Vice-Chancellor expressed these views while talking to Radio Pakistan’s Controller News Punjab Sajjad Parvez in the current affairs program Lahore Insight. He said that after the recent autumn admission campaign, the number of male and female students in Islamia University Bahawalpur will be 75 thousand. This university has now become the largest university in Pakistan in terms of students.
He said that all the employees and teachers of Islamia University Bahawalpur will also benefit from the fruits of the federal budget. Budget preparation has started in the university. In the budget, money has been allocated for increasing the salaries of the employees. 35% in wages for employees in grades 1 to 16 and 30% for grades above 17. Increase will be given. He said that the university’s budget will focus on quality education, excellent research and welfare of employees and students. The Vice Chancellor welcomed the release of Pakistan Education Endowment Fund (PEF) by the federal government. He said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had issued PEF during his tenure as Chief Minister, now this welfare scheme has been started at the federal level as well. He hoped that university students would also benefit from this scheme.
He said that Islamia University Bahawalpur is also establishing new campuses in which steps are being taken for Khanpur campus and Hasilpur campus on the instructions of the Governor of Punjab. In response to a question, the Vice Chancellor said that the summer semester has been started in the style of the best universities of Pakistan and the world. Summer semester is as per university act, academic and other rules and regulations. From this to the university Optimal utilization of manpower and resources will be possible. He said that the summer semester classes will be air-conditioned so that the teachers and students can be protected from the harsh weather conditions. The summer semester will be entirely based on teaching activities so that the students can continue their studies together. He said that so far the trend of the students for the summer semester is very strong and this semester will prove to be the addition of the best chapter in the high quality education and teaching traditions.
