UVAS Marks World Water Day with Emphasis on Water Conservation

Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore celebrated World Water Day with a series of events aimed at raising awareness about the importance of water conservation. In collaboration with the Senior Tutor office, Green Youth Movement Club (GYM), and the Society for Conservation of Environment and Nature (SCEN), the Department of Environmental Sciences organized an awareness walk and seminar on the theme “water for peace” at the City Campus Lahore.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the walk was spearheaded by Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I), with significant participation from Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr. Muhammad Azam, Chairman Department of Environmental Sciences Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman Kashif, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Dr. Fareeha Arooj, and numerous faculty members and students.

The seminar featured Ms. Shazia Ghaffar from the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) as the guest speaker. She elaborated on PCRWR’s crucial role in the conservation of water resources and the improvement of water quality, underscoring the organization’s commitment to addressing Pakistan’s water challenges.

The events of World Water Day at UVAS underscored the critical need for sustainable water management practices and the collective responsibility to ensure the availability of this vital resource for future generations. By focusing on “water for peace,” the university highlighted the integral link between water conservation efforts and the promotion of peace and stability within and among communities.
