Kotli, The University of Kotli celebrated the conclusion of the Inter-Departmental Cricket Championship 2024 with a grand prize distribution ceremony. The event was marked by the presence of Registrar University Dr. Sir Shamsul Hasan Syed Azimi as the chief guest, who also participated in the awarding of prizes to the outstanding participants.

According to University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the ceremony featured a warm reception for Dr. Sir Azimi, who emphasized the significance of sports in fostering community and excellence in educational institutions. He advocated for expanding trial opportunities for sports beyond the regional level to nurture talent and encourage competitive spirit. Dr. Sir Azimi also credited Deputy Director Sports Ms. Nausheen for her pivotal role in orchestrating the successful championship.

The event highlighted individual achievements, with Kamran Ashraf, a student from the Department of Data Science, earning the ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Best Batsman’ trophies. Amir, from the Department of Allied Health Sciences, was honored as the best bowler, while Hasan Raza Hashmi claimed the best commentator award. Dr. Sir Azimi personally awarded the prizes, including cash awards to the winning team, the runner-up, and the best commentator, totaling Rs. 9000.

The ceremony was not just a celebration of cricket but also a testament to the vibrant sports culture at the University of Kotli, with Dr. Sir Azimi and Ms. Nausheen acknowledging the students’ enthusiasm and dedication despite challenging weather conditions. Their efforts were supported by other dignitaries, including Aamir Bashir Iqalani and Majid Chaudhry, who also participated in prize distribution.
