Rawalpindi, In a display of profound reverence and unity, Pakistan, along with the rest of the world, observed the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (AS), the Lion of God, on Monday, 21st of Ramadan. The day was marked by mourning processions and gatherings that drew thousands of participants from both Shia and Sunni communities, underscoring a message of unity and shared respect for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Ahl al-Bayt. The main procession in Rawalpindi, characterized by the traditional blessings of the coffin, Zul-Jinah, and Alam, became a poignant symbol of love and grief for the Prophet and his family. Allama Agha Syed Hussain Maqdisi, head of the Tehreek-i-Nifaz-e-Fiqah Jafaria, emphasized the importance of unity, the rejection of terrorism, and the need for economic stability and security measures, particularly for Chinese engineers, highlighting China’s close relationship with Pakistan.

Sunnis donned their sabers and distributed prayers, while the Shia community engaged in mourning, showcasing their devotion through the reenactment of the martyrdom. This unity was further echoed in Maqdisi’s address, where he called for the cancellation of the controversial uniform curriculum, stressed the need for adherence to election promises for economic stability, and condemned terrorism and restrictions on mourning.
The martyrdom day not only honored Hazrat Ali’s sacrifice but also served as a platform to advocate for peace, justice, and opposition to oppression globally, particularly in Palestine and Kashmir. Maqdisi’s speech underscored the necessity of solidarity among Muslim nations to combat oppression and terrorism. He highlighted the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for Pakistan’s economic strength and called for a unified effort to implement the National Action Plan against terrorism.
