Two-day International Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches in Social Sciences 2022 has been started 

Bahawalpur, November 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Organized by the Department of Applied Psychology, Islamia University Bahawalpur, the second international conference on the interrelationship of social sciences and applied psychology has started in Baghdad Dal-Jadeed Campus.

The theme of this year’s conference is Mental Health for All, Social Goals, Challenges and Sustainable Solutions. More than 100 delegates from different educational institutions and universities of Malaysia, United Kingdom, Philippines and Pakistan are participating in the conference.

While inaugurating the conference, Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob said that due to the increase in problems related to psychology at the global level, the process of moving towards their scientific solution has accelerated. Universities play a key role in solving the psychological problems faced by today’s generation.

In these circumstances, organizing an international conference by the Department of Applied Psychology, Islamia University, Bahawalpur, and bringing domestic and foreign delegates together on one platform is a good initiative. Teaching, research and conducting conferences and seminars on topics related to applied psychology in Islamia University Bahawalpur main campus and Rahim Yar Khan Campus is a welcome process.

Practical support from University-based Enabling Center and Department of Psychiatry, Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur and Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan is appreciated. Professor Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, said that more than 34 domestic and foreign experts will deliver keynote speeches on multifaceted topics related to psychology.

The recommendations of this conference, which will continue till Dodan, will be conveyed to the policy makers and decision-making bodies so that recommendations can be made for creating a peaceful and prosperous society. Conference Chair Professor Dr Muhammad Saleem said that the Department of Applied Psychology is working on various projects along with teaching and high quality research.

This conference organized in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Commission, Psychology It will prove to be a knowledge milestone for teachers and students on the subject. Papers will be presented in the conference on mental health, media psychology, impact of corona crisis, educational psychology and impact on parental psychology.

The guest of honour Mohsin Rafique, DIG Jails, Professor Dr. Niaz Maqsood, Head of Department of Psychiatry, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, spoke on this occasion. Foreign delegates participating in the conference, Prof. Dr. Christopher Lewis, UK, Prof. Dr. Joselito Binano, Philippines, Prof. Dr. Rozni bin Ismail, Malaysia, Dr. Khan Muhammad Raziuddin Tawfeeq, UK, delivered keynote speeches on important topics. On the first day, 10 parallel scientific sessions and poster presentation sessions were held.

His topics include mental health of students and youth, family relationships and professional responsibilities, digital world, mental health and society, adverse effects, violence and exploitation of disadvantaged groups, education in mental health of students. Important topics like the role of institutions were covered. Prof. Dr. Qudsia Tariq, University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Rubina Hanif, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Sarwar Sultan Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan, Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool, Government College University, and Lahore spoke on this occasion.
