MoU Signed between UCP-FOHSS and Institute of Regional Studies-ISB

Lahore, June 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):On Friday, 3rd June 2021, the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), Faculty of Humanity and Social Sciences (FOHSS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) Islamabad.

Matters of mutual interests were discussed at length. Both sides talked about the possibilities of engaging in a range of areas; Recruitment of UCP students, Internship programs, joint research projects, advocacy campaigns, seminars and webinars on Social Issues. Ambassador (Rtd) Nadeem Riyaz (President of the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) Islamabad) shared their projects and activities. Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt (Consultant, FOHSS) shared the progress and future programs of FOHSS and appreciated the projects of IRS ISB.

Dr Waheed Ahmed Khan (HoD, DPIR) discussed the importance of student grooming and developing leadership skills. Both sides agreed that UCP and IRP could further enhance collaboration in different areas. Pro-Rector Dr Nassar Ikram and Ambassador (Rtd) Nadeem Riyaz signed the MoU on behalf of UCP and the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), respectively. The meeting was concluded with souvenir distribution and group photographs.

Guest Speaker Session – Services Marketing Strategy

Lahore, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Service Design Innovation has become increasingly popular in the last decade to improve existing service offerings and create entirely new offerings continuously. Service design innovation is the creative application of design thinking methods to develop services. An online guest speaker session was arranged by Dr Raja Irfan Sabir, HoD, Department of Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain, UCP Business School, on the topic “New Service Development”.

The session was arranged for a better understanding of: What is the importance of Service Innovation? How Services can be Innovative? How creative Ideas are generated? Strategies for New Service Development The guest speaker, Mr Faheem Aslam (CEO, Alpha, Oman; and, Founder and Chairman, 7th Sense Designs, Pakistan), briefed the students that products are designed in product design, concepts for services are developed in service design. Either existing services can be improved, or new services can be created. By quoting local and foreign examples of Hospitality and Healthcare Industries, Mr. Faheem explained the concept of Design Innovation and the importance of the concept of “Empathy” being at the heart of Service Innovation.

UCP organised a community well-being camp

Lahore, June 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Psychology, University of Central Punjab Lahore, organised a community well-being camp at the Cantonment General Hospital on 28t May 2022. Dr Shazia Hasan, Ms Momina Nayyer, Ms Pakeeza Haider Qasmi and Ms Ifra Mahmood were the community well-being camp organisers. The camp’s purpose was to provide awareness and help to the community with their mental health issues and to make suitable referrals. The community well-being camp incorporates the social, mental, emotional, cultural, and spiritual determinants of health.

The well-being of an individual includes coping with the various stresses of everyday living and realisation of the full potential of an individual as a productive member of society. MS Clinical Psychology (Bushra Khan, Fatima Hanif, Aqsa Malik, Khushbakht Pari, Muhammad Sohail and Sehar Waheed) and PhD Psychology (Sana Majeed) students administered a variety of measures to assess children and adults, including the emotional quotient, intelligence, aggression, self-compassion, anxiety, depression, behavioural addiction, stress, and self-efficacy. 23 clients, including 7children and 16 adults, were assessed in the community well-being camp. In addition, Psychoeducation and counselling were provided to the parents and patients.

Dr Shazia Hassan, Head of the Psychology Department, inaugurated the Well Being Camp. The findings of the tests were immediately communicated with adults and children’s informants to raise awareness and educate them about their mental health. Other members of the faculty visited the camp as well. The event facilitated its goal by encouraging the development of life skills that allow people, families, and communities to better understand and engage with their surroundings and lead healthy lifestyles.

Industry visits of Emirates Logistics Private Limited

Lahore, June 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):To strengthen Industry-Academia linkages, the Department of Marketing Operations and Supply Chain Management organized a Study Tour for BBA students on Thursday, 26th May 2022. Students from the class of “Transportation and Distribution Planning” and HOD Dr Raja Irfan Sabir, Ms Syeda Uzma Tahira and Mr Mustafa Hanan visited Emirates Logistics Pvt. Ltd., Lahore. Students visited the company’s storage facility to observe and understand the warehouse operations and material management process. The study tour included a presentation by the Head of IT and Warehouse Operations, Mr Rashid Siddique, on the detailed process flow and warehouse management system, a facility visits and a meeting with the CEO, Mr Naeem Ahmed.

During the presentation and the facility visit, students asked relevant questions to assimilate their learning from the course with the company’s practices. They understood the role and importance of third-party logistics service providers and their critical operations. During the meeting with the CEO, Mr Naeem Ahmed and HR Head, Mr Sohaib Baig, areas of mutual collaboration, including joint curriculum development, writing case studies, student hiring, internships and training sessions, were discussed.

Training on Amazon Dropshipping

Lahore, June 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Management, HRM and Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Management Studies arranged a workshop on “How to Generate Entrepreneurial Income from Multiple Sources – Training on Amazon Dropshipping?” on 22nd April 2022 for the BBA students studying the Entrepreneurship course. The course instructor and session organizer is Ms. Ambreen Khursheed.

Mr Zeeshan Tariq (CEO and Founder of ECommerce Dropshipping) was invited to enhance students’ knowledge about Amazon Dropshipping. He delivered an informative session on how to earn using the platform of Amazon Dropshipping in Pakistan. With his successful background and diverse experience working at Amazon, he emphasized that students should be independent and manage their expenses. He introduced students to the purpose of amazon dropshipping, its benefits, the amazon dropship business model, Amazon from Pakistan and how to become an Amazon seller from scratch and the implementation.

He highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship and product hunting in this modern world where unemployment is the major problem increasing due to lack of job opportunities. In the end, Dr Faisal Mustafa (Dean, FOMS) and Ms Ambreen Khursheed (Senior Lecturer, UCP) concluded the session with a vote of thanks. Dr Faisal presented the souvenir to Mr Zeeshan. Through a detailed question and answer session, the students showed great interest and inquired about the Amazon account creation and product hunting process. The session was followed by a meeting with Mr Zeeshan Tariq, Dr Faisal Mustafa and Ms Ambreen, where mutual interest and collaboration were discussed.

UCP organized an interactive session on “How HR Strategies work in organization”

Lahore, June 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UCP organized an interactive session on ‘How HR Strategies work in organization’. The resource person was M. Imran Fayyaz, a Performance-Driven Retailer and Marketing Professional currently working as General Manager of Sourcing and Merchandising at CARREFOUR Pakistan. The interactive session aimed to motivate and enlighten the students with the knowledge and practical implementation of HR strategies in Pakistani culture.

Also, it helped students to understand HR Principles and how it is related to the work environment. The role of psychology in HR, Internship plans, field visits, training methods, job opportunities and career development were discussed. Students took keen interest and asked questions that the resource person answered. In the end, Prof. Dr Fehmida Sultana (Dean, Faculty of Arts and social sciences) presented a souvenir to the Guest speaker. It was held on 23rd May 2022 in the Webinar Room C-Building at the University of Central Punjab.
