Lahore, July 01, 2021 (PPI-OT):The College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore is organizing a “Series of Awareness Webinars (Hybrid Events) on Plastic Pollution Free Pakistan” scheduled on July 1st, 8th and 29th, 2021. This webinar series is focused on the theme of Plastic Free Pakistan in order to create awareness among the community.
Today, on July 1, 2021 it was the first webinar to celebrate the month of July in context of Plastic Pollution Free Pakistan. In this regard, the distinguished Speakers shared their views for wise management of environmental resources, pollution control and restoration of ecosystem. First Speaker Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad, Principal, College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore addressed on the Micro-plastics Pollution Around us and it’s Impact on Human Life.
Mr. Nisar A. Memon, Former Federal Minister and Senator, highlighted the various aspects of plastic pollution and our social responsibility. The 3rd Speaker Dr. Muhammad Akram, Columbia University, New York, USA focused on Plastic pollution challenges resulted during Covid-19. Fourth Speaker Ms. Farwa gave the interactive session on the natural Toys. Ms. Sahar Sohail, Young Researcher of the CEES presented social and environmental impacts of masks.
Dr. Amber Naqvi from Environmental Protection Department, Punjab presented the Environmental and Development Strategies to control the single use plastic from Punjab. Mr. A. Rashid elaborated the role of society in education of plastic bags. At the end Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad thanked all the participants of the event and acknowledged the organizers Dr. Abdul Qadir, Ms. Anam Tariq and faculty members on successful event.
