Lahore, The upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Player Draft for the 2024 season is set to be a high-profile event with 485 international players from 22 nations registering for the selection process. The draft, scheduled for December 13 at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, features a significant number of players in both the Platinum and Diamond categories, indicating a robust international interest in the league.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the draft’s roster is bolstered by top-ranked players, including England’s Dawid Malan and South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks, who are among the top 10 ICC Men’s T20I batters. Additionally, Rilee Rossouw, currently the World No. 5 T20I batter, has been traded to Quetta Gladiators from Multan Sultans ahead of the draft.
The event will also see the participation of prominent T20I bowlers, such as Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana, Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and West Indies’ Akeal Hosein. Mohammad Nabi, the World No. 2 T20I all-rounder, is another notable name in the draft.
England leads the foreign player registration with 158 players, followed by West Indies, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and other full member nations. A substantial number of players from associate member countries have also registered, reflecting the global appeal of the PSL.
The Platinum category includes high-profile players like Daniel Sams, Ashton Agar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ben Duckett, and Chris Jordan, among others. The Diamond category features notable names such as Mohammad Nabi, Ben McDermott, Litton Das, and Martin Guptill.
