Pishin: The voter registration rate in Pishin District is 39% of its projected 2025 population, falling short of the national average of 54%. This discrepancy is primarily attributed to a pronounced gender gap in voter registration.
According to Free and Fair Election Network, the data, released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on December 30, 2025, highlights that Pishin has 338,329 registered voters, comprising 195,841 males (57.9%) and 142,488 females (42.1%). The district ranks 89th by population size nationwide and 115th in voter registration rate, placing it 18th out of 34 districts within Balochistan.
The low registration rates in Pishin are largely due to an acute gender gap, with only 33% of the estimated female population registered compared to 44% of males. The disparity stems from restricted mobility, lower female CNIC penetration, and social barriers. Unlike larger cities where census effects might skew voter rolls, Pishin's figures indicate genuine non-registration among women.
To address these challenges, mobile NADRA units and sustained outreach by the ECP through community networks are deemed crucial to improving voter registration rates ahead of the next general elections.
