PMAS-AAUR Hosts Seminar on UN Challenges and Legal Migration

Rawalpindi, The Faculty of Social Sciences at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), recently organized an influential international seminar titled “Challenges of United Nations and Legal Migration to Europe.” This thought-provoking event took place on October 30, 2023, and delved into some of the most pressing issues facing the global community today.

According to Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, the seminar’s guest speaker was Dr. Afsar Rathor, a former senior executive of the United Nations. He shared his insights on the multifaceted challenges the world faces and the potential pathways forward in these turbulent times. Dr. Rathor emphasized the pivotal role of the United Nations in maintaining global peace and security, highlighting its significant achievements in peacekeeping operations. He outlined the UN’s key objectives, including maintaining international peace and security, collective action, and cooperation among nations, especially in addressing economic, social, humanitarian, and human rights issues.

The seminar also addressed the topic of legal migration to Europe. Dr. Rathor encouraged exploring legal avenues for migration, advising against illegal methods. He urged participants to visit European embassies’ websites for direct visa application information.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, also spoke at the event. He stressed the importance of the UN in promoting global peace and security and encouraged attendees, particularly students, to pursue career opportunities within the UN to contribute to their country and the international community.

The seminar opened with a welcome address by Dr. Muhammad Arshad Dahar from the Department of Education, who shared the event’s theme and objectives.
